Pros: View, free private beach/ community forest sites, sandy beaches, clean swimming water, small water falls, experience both still glassy waters in the mornings while also enjoying the theraputic sounds of waves splashing during the day. Amazing display of stars on a clear night (far from city lights). Travel is just a 2hr drive from Coquitlam. Cons: Early morning (5am) and loud logging trucks frequently passes (wakes you + robs a good portion of the day from a 'nature' experience), long dirt road up a steep hill with many pot holes (about 30min) to reach the camping sites + lake (not ideal for smaller vehicles, but my truck got up just fine), only outhouses are with community forest sites so be prepared for a very rustic experience (or very long walk) to relieve yourself if you choose the nicer private beach sites, because this location is somewhat unmonitored + free neighbours can be loud and many visitors fail to responsibly clean up their garbage etc before leaving so be prepared to do their work just to set up + occupy the site yourself (bring your own garbage bag), and, location is about a 45min drive one way to a gas station/store so be sure to come prepared. Overall, my kids ages 1, 10 + 12 LOVED the private beach site. We will for sure...
Read moreBeware of wolves!!! Jones Lake (Wahleach Lake) is a very beautiful place to go and camp. We stayed by a site where we could just drive up and camp beside the lake. My family have been there several times, but on our most recent trip in August 2022, we were targeted and surrounded by wolves. We were very lucky to be able to pack up and leave without incident, but was really surprised that they were so aggressive. Our loud banging, yelling, and rock throwing didn’t scare them away. They came closer and surrounded our campsite. We could hear signalled howling coming from all around us. We put the kids into the truck first while my husband and I quickly put everything into the truck. I didn’t realize there were so many and so close until the end and my daughter even saw their eyes prowling in the bush nearby. We did BBQ for dinner and I think that attracted them to us, so if you do go beware they can be...

This is an amazingly beautiful lake to fish on and camp next to, and I’ve loved coming up here for years. Unfortunately there has been an abundance of misuse of the land with trash being left behind and dead stumps and drift wood being burnt on the shore that left me shocked when I went up yesterday night for a one-nighter.
There were also plenty of people playing music at high volume until the late hours of the night having no consideration for others. If we don’t treat each other and the land with respect it won’t be usable anymore.
Camping courtesy reminder: Please don’t start setting up your tent within proximity of others when they have already found their spot and are trying to sleep. I know it’s a free for all and nobody is paying, but it’s pretty rude to arrive after dark and set up for camp right next to ours, when we don’t know you. In my opinion, completely...
