It’s not a hotel so some of these stars are not applicable it’s a mountain you can ski, they have a small lodge also I selected vacation but I live here so not on vacation either
The customer service is not good, the snow is generally really good which is probably why the customer service is so bad. Today was opening day, many of has had signed waivers online after being told to specifically do it online and not to come in to the office. We waited in a long line for the lift only to be pulled out and told our waiver that we signed online was not signed. We did not get to ride the lift with our friends instead we got to go stand in another line for over an hour to re-sign our passes and then move to another line to link it. There were numerous staff in the rental shop with nothing to do. The managers didn’t seem invested in problem solving their broken system instead it was all on the passholder to wait in lines and get a runaround. A lifty handed me a free drink coupon but it’s only good for a free hot chocolate or coffee where you can go stand in another long line for. It would be much better business to offer up a free day ticket for a friend or family member for this type of inconvenience as it was hours of waiting. We arrived at 9 and didn’t get out to ski until 11:30. The ski hill doesn’t have to provide good customer service because they are the only ones close to Nelson so we all go back regardless of the service. It also gets great snow so we put up with the poor service and poor management. The food service is not efficiently run, the events are mediocre (live music is usually super sad depressing music, at least it has been every time I’ve heard it) passholder benefits and appreciation is minimal but they have you, cause the skiing is great, thanks to Mother Nature! That’s what makes whitewater amazing certainly not the way it’s run. The community of Nelson is very positive and forgiving so people put up with it. Last season they had lifts down for weeks and weeks but did nothing to compensate pass holders they also ignore letters if you write to them so don’t bother. Honestly if they just had better business and gave out some day tickets or tried to own it, I would feel a lot better I understand mistakes happen but when they do, nothing to problem solve or try to do better get more computers online, use your staff who have nothing to do in the rental shop to help, at least act like your trying, but they don’t. Instead they have people...
Read moreWhat an awesome little hidden gem of a hill, we LOVED Whitewater! They are a smaller resort with big terrain slowly building up their lifts to high-speed and other developments. As it stands, it is an authentic ski resort with one good, solid, rustic lodge containing all of the services you might need. Excellent parking system, attendants out there helping neatly line everyone up. The lifts are quick and easy to access, the ticket prices are excellent, a really pretty spot in a secluded valley of the mountains, and well-planned use of the very diverse terrain. The shallower slope to the east is used mainly for beginners with mostly green runs, and gentle blue runs with some simple glades for people to build their skills. The big ridge to the west has awesome front and backside skiing just for blue and black skiers. We loved the back and spent almost our entire day there. Beautiful, deep powder, fun tree glades that competent blue skiers can handle and enjoy, and a cute little lodge with a wood-burning stove and some lunch items near the back-side lift line. Apparently last year they only had portable washrooms and a food truck, so they are developing the backside bit by bit! The food was alright here, not amazing, but in fairness it is a really tiny kitchen. We didn't try the main lodge's food, which is supposedly excellent and under the guidance of a master chef. We will absolutely be back to Whitewater, one of our favourite...
Read moreWe ski at Red mountain every year and always do a trip to Whitewater for some variation and because Red season pass holders get a discount on day tickets, we have always had a great experience until this year. On arriving at the ticket office we presented our Red mountain season passes, which are undated because they recharge the previous year’s ticket, and where told by a young English girl at the counter we had to prove the passes were current which we could not do as there is no internet. So she referred this to her manager who said it was ok, and at the same time our friends who were at the ticket counter next to us, with identical Red mountain passes, were issued with passes with no problem at all. Even though she was told it was ok by her manager she still said she was marking our names on file and if we didn’t bring proof next time we wouldn’t get tickets. Our friends didn’t receive any of this treatment. So all I can say to this operator no need to mark our file because we won’t be back. Your massive power trip meant that us and all the people queued up behind us missed half an...
