I booked three experiences with Copper Sun: the petroglyphs, totem tour and a 2 hour raft and I could not recommend them enough! Every guide and staff member I met was extremely kind and knowledgeable. I feel so grateful to have been welcomed and shown around Nuxalk territory by members of the community that have stewarded the land since time immemorial. Thank you wholeheartedly for sharing your smayusta with me 🧡 This visit to Bella Coola would not have been the same without the wonderful people at Copper Sun. I recommend everyone to book a tour with them and buy some art from the gallery. I cannot wait to come back and visit this beautiful Nuxalk territory!

We did 2 tours with them. The petroglyphs and thevTotem Pole tour. Both times our guide was Tuqa (Zac) Nelson, and at times we were joined by Sheldon, the Manager of the centre. Tuqa has extensive knowledge of the area and his First Nations people, the Nuxalk. He is so happy to share his knowledge and answer any questions you have. On the Totem Pole tour we also went to Sheldon's Uncle, Alvin, a well known carver who taught at the school for 20 years. He is such a nice guy, and spoke so lovingly about his carvings.

We did the petroglyph tours with Chris - he was a fantastic guide and an amazing storyteller. I highly recommend this tour! It was absolutely fascinating and it was so interesting to see.

This was a once-in-a-lifetime experience on the sacred lands of the Nuxalk people in Bella Coola. The journey weaves powerful storytelling and hand-drum singing into a mystical ceremony of beauty, loss, resilience, and survival, led by the incredibly knowledgeable and inspiring guide, Sheldon Tallio. The petroglyphs rest in a forest “open sanctuary,” reached by a wooden boardwalk built by the Nuxalk people, with a breathtaking creek below that feels healing for the soul. Sheldon’s deep love for his land, family, and community shines through every word, leaving us in awe and filling our hearts with love and calm. If you wish to experience this sacred place with care, respect, and authenticity, book with Copper...

My Mom and I booked and paid over a month in advance. The Petroglyph and River Bear tours they offer were supposed to be the cornerstone events planned for our Bella Coola visit. Sadly no guide showed up for either of our tours. After a few calls with Sheldon the lead guide and follow up emails - he was apologetic for their shortcomings but we have still not been able to get a refund from them. Very disappointing on all fronts. (thankfully we were able to pivot to other tour companies last minute to save our trip) After our experience we would definitely not recommend prebooking...
