The showcase of British Columbia. Englishman River Falls Provincial Park encompasses all of BC’s famous beauty in one walkable loop.

Just 20 or so minutes outside of Nanaimo, located in the rustic and quaint town of Errington, Englishman River Falls is a perfectly maintained trail system perfect for most looking to see some of the most incredible falls and forest that B.C. has to offer.

You can park in the day use lot (directions are well signed), and walk 5 minutes to the bridge over the main falls (pictured). Dogs on a leash are welcome all throughout the park.

The full loop can take a couple hours, with many benches and picnic tables along the way to rest, if needed.

The lower falls during the summer months is a popular swimming hole, with pebble beaches along the shores of the lower pools. These pictures are in the month of January, so please be careful along the shores and slippery rocks.

Directly from the day use parking lot you can choose lower falls or upper falls. Both trails will eventually lead into each other, with signage available at entrance locations.

If you choose the lower loop, just be aware that the trail down is steeper, so if you have mobility issues this could be more of a challenge.

During the summer months the washrooms are open (and well maintained). During the winter months there are outhouses available near the upper falls entrance.

Highly recommend that you make the trip to visit this picturesque location. While not a challenging hike, the scenery will make up for...

Englishman River Water Falls is about 45 minutes drive from Nanaimo (the Harbour city in Vancouver Island), in the province of British Columbia, Canada. We have to take highway 19 north and leave highway at exit 51 to Port Alberni Hwy at T intersection turn left. Take left turn at Errington Road after driving few kilometers. This road will end at Waterfalls parking lot. There is plenty of parking slots (wheelchair accesable) and comfortable clean washrooms are provided. There are directions to walk towards falls, please follow them. You will get to see this beautifil special kind falls on top of the bridge. To get better and complete view please walk around the area safely. Please do not go close to cliffy rocks where you can put yourself in dangerous spot. There are Miles and miles of hiking trails in this provincial park for hikers. There is another place/location called Top bridge, from where you can park your car and hike to this falls. Over all this location is fantastic place where you can use it for picnic with family, children and seniors. Soak in nature with nice voices of birds. Weekdays are better as not many people come there if you choose quietness. Spring/rainy season has magnificent water flow but it is awesome at all season in its own way. Errington town is closeby (on the way or way back) is a small community where you can stop for coffee, food, gas, groceries, post, liquor store and other basic necessities. Worth to visit and you should bring back with nice...

The photos That I posted are ones taken of the falls the pictures were taken Aug 23 to Sept 3 2021. the pictures of me smiling in them are ones of me taken by Kristine Kiefer or I believe Jerry Zimmerman took a few of Kristine and me not sure if I posted any of them because it would be wrong to post a picture of another person without their written consent. But I posted the pictures of me at the falls even though they are not the best because of the smile... It showed how I think I really felt, and it was of gratitude and place of something special to be there in that moment. The scenic photos were of what I took pictures of. And would love to come back but know that might only be a dream. If I had the right person and they were patient and I trusted them, and I have not aged much I could ditch the walker use their arm as support and perhaps not be able to do the full up and down the trail from one side of the viewing to the other but if starting at the top, I could probably get down and then if they stayed for meal and went back up and got the vehicle and left me at the lower part I could be picked up, and the view and pictures I could get. I know it is rough terain, but if I had an arm and cane yes I would be sore for a day after but I could do it, maybe I might make it back if not that is ok. But a beautiful place wish i seen more if not done this way then I could do it 1/2 day at top and half day at bottom, still would be a beautiful place if not a...

Nice big parking space, the falls are very close to the parking area so it's a good place for a easy stroll, family's and what not. Washrooms are plentiful, they have out houses and a cement washroom building in the day, the falls are very nice with the big one being close to the parking and the second falls being a little farther down the trails, a couple good swimming areas, the water can be quite cold tho. Walk around to the other side of the bridge to find the swimming areas. Gates are open till 10 or 11, there is campgrounds in this area that looked quite nice, would definitely check out the camping.

Beautiful park, kids friendly path and easy for kids as young as 2 years old. Most of it is accessible with a stroller with the exception of a few spots where you might need some help. I would highly recommend the park. Bring water shoes if you want to head down to the water / river due to tones of stones, not comfortable to walk without water shoes, but whatever you do if you have young kids and have to chase them, don’t visit the water area without foot covering. Lastly if you go swimming, the water is so clear and beautiful and fresh, approx temp 10 degrees C! So it’s truly refreshing:-)
