The showcase of British Columbia. Englishman River Falls Provincial Park encompasses all of BC’s famous beauty in one walkable loop. Just 20 or so minutes outside of Nanaimo, located in the rustic and quaint town of Errington, Englishman River Falls is a perfectly maintained trail system perfect for most looking to see some of the most incredible falls and forest that B.C. has to offer. You can park in the day use lot (directions are well signed), and walk 5 minutes to the bridge over the main falls (pictured). Dogs on a leash are welcome all throughout the park. The full loop can take a couple hours, with many benches and picnic tables along the way to rest, if needed. The lower falls during the summer months is a popular swimming hole, with pebble beaches along the shores of the lower pools. These pictures are in the month of January, so please be careful along the shores and slippery rocks. Directly from the day use parking lot you can choose lower falls or upper falls. Both trails will eventually lead into each other, with signage available at entrance locations. If you choose the lower loop, just be aware that the trail down is steeper, so if you have mobility issues this could be more of a challenge. During the summer months the washrooms are open (and well maintained). During the winter months there are outhouses available near the upper falls entrance. Highly recommend that you make the trip to visit this picturesque location. While not a challenging hike, the scenery will make up for it in spades.

Nice big parking space, the falls are very close to the parking area so it's a good place for a easy stroll, family's and what not. Washrooms are plentiful, they have out houses and a cement washroom building in the day, the falls are very nice with the big one being close to the parking and the second falls being a little farther down the trails, a couple good swimming areas, the water can be quite cold tho. Walk around to the other side of the bridge to find the swimming areas. Gates are open till 10 or 11, there is campgrounds in this area that looked quite nice, would definitely check out the camping.

Beautiful park, kids friendly path and easy for kids as young as 2 years old. Most of it is accessible with a stroller with the exception of a few spots where you might need some help. I would highly recommend the park. Bring water shoes if you want to head down to the water / river due to tones of stones, not comfortable to walk without water shoes, but whatever you do if you have young kids and have to chase them, don’t visit the water area without foot covering. Lastly if you go swimming, the water is so clear and beautiful and fresh, approx temp 10 degrees C! So it’s truly refreshing:-)

Spectacular views of a massive waterfall surrounded by lush plant life and massive towering trees all along the Englishman River. The waterfall is easily accessible, you can head straight from the parking area to the foot bridge in less than 5 minutes or you can head down the hiking path which leads to the bottom of the falls, crosses at the bottom of the river and leads back up to the foot bridge at the top of the falls in less than an hour. The water flow varies depending on rainfall and can change dramatically within days. It’s especially dramatic when the river is high after rainfall.

Great child friendly hike, about 5km from Coombs, we did the Englishman River Regional Park hike, which was doable for my 3 year old and has some great walks through the forest and also some river access. Saw some birds and frogs, great spot to walk the dogs. Strawberry’s along a big section of the trail. We then did the Top Bridge trail and stopped at the bridge and hung out by the river on the rocks/beach area. Overall, had a great morning on this trail system and would surely go back on a hot day for a swim. 5 star hike!

What a wonderful park! For starters, the campground is wonderful with spacious lots and lots of privacy created naturally by the enormous trees that close you in. You can’t get closer to nature than this! The hike are is also beautiful with a multitude of hikes to choose from within the network and the possibility of viewing two beautiful waterfalls. Opportunity to swim as well! The paths in the park are wide and easily navigable, although not suited for strollers or other mechanisms on wheels.
