We drove to the hostel from Fort St John. When we arrived we were told they lost the reservation and it was after 9pm at this time. Maggie was a HUGE help! She paid for our gas to McKenzie and called to make sure there were accommodations there. She also made sure our lift tickets, rentals, everything was covered! She was a true lifesaver when we were really freaking out! Thank you Maggie! You deserve a raise!!

Came in for opening weekend, had a blast with friends and family♥️ as soon as we got to the mountain, my partner snapped his snowboard binding strap in half. The PK shop hooked us up with a new strap for $6, and were able to get us on to slopes in no time! Our waitress at the lounge was lovely, and the food and drinks hit the spot. And of course, the mountain was amazing as always!

Some of the best skiing I have done. It is a great resort for downhill skiers and snowboarders of any level. Lots of untouched powder because of the frequent snowfall in the area. Fairly remote, almost four hours from Grande Prairie, AB and two hours from Prince George, BC and because of that it is not very busy. Cabins at the base of the resort can be rented for overnight trips.

Bus ride was more akin to a circus ride; brakes squealed, driver bounced off the median and rumble strips constantly, exceeded the limit by 25kms/hr, passed vehicles with no visability and terrifying veering, and management was nonchalant when informed. The rundown shack they consider a day lodge smelled of black mold mixed with cooking grease. The lady that sold us our tickets had no idea about discounts through hart seasons passes, which is advertised. The rental skis were sized differently, and needed to be returned to be adjusted. Pint glasses came to the table filthy, the drinks were made incorrectly and the server didn't care that she curdled milk in my wife's paralyzer. The food came out cold, even though they weren't busy, with only a few fries on the plate. Before we finished eating, chants of "WHITE POWER" rang out stealing our appetite. Watched a loader operator chain up and drag a big truck through the parking lot while the alarm sounded the entire way. Shanties near the lift still had smouldering garbage fires wafting poison into the lift lines. The lift operators were doing drugs openly, and smelled like they had been drinking when they spoke to us. Watched the chair take out three kids all at once and they didn't stop or even slow the lift. Grooming report listed runs clearly ungroomed. Groomed runs had massive over spilled chunks of snow, harsh edging, and valleys and dips that acted like jumps launching skiers. T-bar path was rutted and grooved for the one ride we got up before it shut down for mechanical issues. When we asked if there would be a discounted return for our lift passes for half the mountain being inaccessible, management was incredulous. The 'Hotel' was worse than an oilfield camp. Hostel style shared bathrooms and showers were filthy. When we told the front desk there was no paper towels, they remained empty for our stay. When we attempted to use the kitchen we were told we were not allowed, even though we had seen other guests cooking in there. The hallways had people shouting and running through them all hours of the night making it impossible to sleep. The following morning there was a confrontation in the parking lot, and an expensive vehicle had its tires slashed and windows broken leaving glass all over the ground. Management was telling the owner 'there's nothing we can do, you need to leave'.

Save your money, sanity, and family from this...

@powderkingmountainresort It's the best kept secret in BC.

I've skied and/or boarded for over 50 years and I can not believe I have not been to PK before... especially since hunting out deep powder is my thing, and they get over 40ft of the light, fluffy, stuff every year!

You can even stay in their large, next to the lift hostel, for a mere $57/night. Did I mention the pub next door?

You will find super friendly staff, like Wilma in the cafeteria, Jim plowing out the lots at 4:30am, Olivia pouring fresh local brews, and... crazy good tree skiing, lots of backcountry options, groomers with lots of freshies on the sides, and I was still finding run after run of "inbound" untracked lines at 2pm the day AFTER, the storm!

What you will not find are lift lines, high speed quads, overpriced lift tickets, or powder runs that get skied out by 10:30!

They really do put the "Pow" in Powder, and no, I am in no way affiliated with them... I just appreciate what they have kept to themselves... until now!

Please share and go...

After going there 2 separate seasons multiple times I can honestly say it’s been GREAT snowboarding/skiing experience! The staff is always super friendly! Recently stayed my first time overnight, Hostile staff was great! Rooms were clean, Only complaints I have is the hostile has no working vending machines, and no where to get any drinking water or snacks through the night after 9 pm from what I could find. And the restaurant service was SUPER slow. Super friendly when they made it to us, but we waited over 25 mins to just get approached for the first time to order our drinks. Another 15-20 to bring 3 simple drinks and take our food order and Restaurant was only half full with 3 servers.. Very slow but decent food. If it weren’t for the restaurants slow service and lack of vending machines in hostile I would have gave a 5 star! Also Still recommend going and will continue to go, but we will bring our own means of food and drinks from now on most likely to...
