The Salish Sea is an Art Gallery that specializes in local Vancouver Island Artists and is just a few minutes north of Bowser BC. My wife and I have visited it multiple times over the years and now make it an annual stop on our motorcycle rides to northern Vancouver Island. There's an emphasis on local, native and "recycled" materials in many instances. From larger expensive feature pieces to pottery, metal work, jewelry and other small knick-knacks they have something for every taste and budget. They must do a brisk business because there is an ever changing inventory of work from their artists. There is even a small section that offers local food products and seasonings for the foodies that are reading this. All of the staff I've dealt with have been wonderful, and many, if not all, of them are artists themselves. Even if you are not buying I'd recommend them just to see what they have on display. It's a nice stop on your trip up Island that might just surprise you with their offerings. Highly recommend! The our below is if a cast glass sockeye salmon displayed in our home that we purchased there. The our is from another local artist, Robert Cerins, that we purchased elsewhere.

Excellent store with tons of beautiful artwork from local artists. We bought a watercolour from an artist from Bowser (see picture). There is so many unique pieces, we visited 2 days in a row and still saw stuff we didn’t see the first time. A must stop if driving anywhere in the area. Stop at the Footless Rooster Coffee shop next door while you are there for some delicious food and beverages.

One of the best West Coast artisan galleries/stores I have found on Vancouver Island. There's a large variety of artwork of all types and price ranges including jewelry, paintings, sculpture, fabric arts, gift cards, clothing, pottery, etc. There are items at multiple eye levels all beautifully displayed so I had to go around twice to make sure I didn't miss anything. Whether shopping for home decor, bespoke practical items, gifts, or souvenirs, this shop has lots to offer. There is ample parking including for the disabled and they have good COVID-19...
