REARGUARD FALLS THESE FALLS MARK THE UPPER LIMIT OF THE 800 MILE MIGRATION OF SALMON FROM THE PACIFIC OCEAN.ONLY A FEW CHINOOK,LARGEST AND STRONGEST OF THE SALMON COME THIS FAR. Typically, salmon are anadromous: they hatch in fresh water, migrate to the ocean, then return to fresh water to reproduce. However, populations of several species are restricted to fresh water through their lives. Folklore has it that the fish return to the exact spot where they hatched to spawn. DISTANCE: FROM PRINCE GEORGE 276 KM. FROM MC BRITE, 68 KM.FROM JASPER 99 KM. FROM MOUNT ROBSON VISITOR...

This is an easy walk from the parking lot, the water is clear, light green, almost turquoise. These are not the biggest waterfalls I've ever seen, nor are they the most spectacular or secluded. I've rated them 5/5 because I visited early September during Salmon Spawning season, and watched in amazement as salmon after salmon leapt into the air to swim UP the falls to finish an 800 mile journey from the ocean to spawn. I don't think I ever understood how immense a feat that is until today. I felt humbled and honoured to have witnessed...

It's a super great spot to check out either on your way to Jasper or McBride. This quaint spot right outside of Mount Robson is a terrific spot if your needing to get out of the car and stretch your legs for a few minutes. Approximately 30 minute round trip from the parking lot to actual falls. Especially if you're getting ready to travel into the Rockies, this will give you a great opportunity to get a small taste for what...

What a nice little spot between Jasper and Valemont. It's a (very) brief walk from the turn off down to the falls. It says 30 minutes round trip but honestly it's about 5-6 minute down a nice trail to the falls and 6-8 minutes back uphill. The falls itself are incredible.. you can tell how powerful when you're down at the bottom and the spray it hitting you. It's once of the nicest falls I've been to in a while. 5 ⭐
