2 hours drive from Vancouver, BC🍂🍁 Cruising through this provincial park in the fall feels like stepping into a vivid postcard. This campsite had a couple surprises. It was really clean and most of the toilets are flush outhouses, which some people don't know how to use and plug up... Minimal paper and hold the handle a few seconds to flush. Sadly someone vandalized the second toilet so had to walk to the outhouse by the playground a few times, which was very clean and hardly smelled. They could use one more bathroom at the East end of the site. For me, it's too far of a walk with a bad back and knees. They also had dish washing stations, water and garbage/recycle bins around the site. Staff warned us about bear sightings but we never saw one. Staff were there most mornings, cleaning and picking up garbage etc. They were weedeating a site down from us and noticed tiny rocks hitting my car and things in the site. I would have said something if they got closer but a fellow came by and asked if we minded them clearing weeds by our site since it's loud and smells like gas a bit. I thanked him for asking and let him know about the little rocks so would prefer if they could wait until we left in a couple days, he said that was fine and thanked me for letting him know. That was awesome! Not site related but we had some of the friendliest neighbours as well. We picked a water site which was partially visible from our site through the tree branches, and about an 8-10 climb down. I'm a physical mess but made it with walking sticks. The site is near the highway so you can hear traffic but the sound of the river mostly drowned it out. If you're in other spots it would be louder. Sites were decent sized and have nice picnic tables; fixed, with the bench separate so you don't have to step over the end brace. They also had leveled, framed tent spots in some sites (pic with chipmunk) Beware the ravens, they will steal food with you nearby (so we were told) and trash your garbage for scraps. I had zero cell/data swrvice. The site is appx 10km from the lodge where you can get service/signal. They have a restaurant, and small shop with necessities and souvenirs. You can also go maybe 3-4km East for service, and there is a gas station not too far towards Princeton. We'll be back!

Quintessential Canadian landscape. This is one of my most favourite parks. There's no fee (that I recall) to enter the park. You can rent a canoe here and take it easy paddling on beautiful Lightning Lake; or you can just take it easy and have picnic. There's something for everyone here, from serious hikers to family day-trippers. The water was crystal clear and you could see through to the bottom. I went for a swim and it was wonderful, albeit very cold. It's sad that in the middle of August when the weather was fantastic there were almost no other people around. But I suppose with fewer people around, you can have it all to yourself and enjoy it more fully. I just love the ambiance of this park. The nature in the surrounding areas is wonderful. It's a bit of a trip to get there if you're just visiting Vancouver, which might be one reason why there were so few people around when I went; but if you have a car and want to see some stupendous nature without going to crowded tourist spots like Capilano or Grouse Mtn., I highly recommend it. I just never appreciated the quality of this park until I moved away from Vancouver (and then I really missed it).

There's no describing the possibility here at Manning park. I've been out hiking there in the summer and see miles of beautiful country and spent many nights sleeping under the stars here. There's no shortage of places to go, and each hike takes you somewhere in the park that will take your breath away. Just pack smart and be prepared During the winter the ski resort is another worth while thing to see. Lift tickets and equipment rentals are fairly priced, and they also offer toboggan, and snowshoe rentals. Walking the trails in the snow offer another excellent outdoorsy way to visit the park. The resort is amazing as well, and they offer good food and have a pool with two hot tubs. Nothing feels much better then a day of winter activities then sitting around in a hot tub with friends

Manning Park is a place you have to stop if you are driving through! The sheer size of this provincial park is outstanding, it has so many places to explore. Offering winter sports and activities as well as all the summer fun you can imagine! Many different campgrounds throughout the park that there could be a different view every night! Lightning Lake is one of my favorites, it's huge grass fields surrounding the lake with the trees surrounding you is breathtaking. In the "Main" rest stop of Manning Park you have the Resort, restaurant, washrooms, a playground and the cutest little marmonts. There are signs up advising to to feed the wildlife for the safety of the wildlife and the public. They have a small gift shop with classic souvenir's that have Manning Park logos.
