Beautiful lake, very clean toilets serviced many times a day, most people very friendly, staff friendly & keep the peace & will tell people to turn down or off music/loud noise if they are around when a disturbance happens. Camps are also clean & maintained. The Resort & boat/kayak rentals were not open. People do tend to follow the 10pm no noise curfew while camping, which is nice (except when people are driving - there often is very loud music from vehicals coming/going/moving). Flush toilets too were generally clean. There was someone going around twice a day offering ice (probably have to buy, we did not need any) so that's also good. I'm sure they would sell firewood too in non-fireban seasons.

If you're disabled, Autistic/ADHD, hyperacusis, misophonia or any other sensory issues, it's not peacefully quiet as some reviews say & the hills are quite steep so please be careful, if you require mobility aids the trails may be difficult as there are fallen logs across many paths. You will need earplugs or noise cancelling headphones or both for noise. Cicadas start around 8pm & go until around 2am. The highway is hearable all day & louder at night. There are people that play very loud bass/music on the water which carries all the way to the camp sites, so beware if you're bass sensitive. On the Friday & Saturday nights we were there around 8/9pm people walked around with loud music playing & heavy heavy bass & thankfully someone told them to shut it off & also thankfully they listened. But we noticed when one person started up music, others would too, especially in the early morning or late evenings, so it was a matter of patience+noise cancelling headphones before they were told to turn it down or off.

There are lots of trails & places to walk & explore. We saw a toad at night which was awesome. You can hear loons on the lake all night long, like coyotes or wolves talkin to each other, its beautiful. There are chipmunks, squirrels, juncos, butterflies, wild/woodland strawberries, wild sages, ravens galore, flickers, robins, humming birds, loons, geese, frogs, toads, cicadas, swallows, redwing blackbirds, ground squirrels, eagles, gold beetles, all sorts of wildlife & edible plants. I didn't see any snakes or lizards so herping was a no go (the single toad we saw on our way to the bathroom we didnt have clean enough hands to handle so we just observed with our eyes & I'm not familiar with the species - I'd never seen one like it here, it was huge). Heard many other species of birds I could hear but not see. Walking along the lakeside going towards the resort, there are many bees & flowers, so there's lots to look at. Sunday morning as we were getting ready to leave/packing/making food/etc, a squirrel kept us company, crawling over our stuff, it was cute. So if you like wildlife & plants, this place is great to explore!

Warning; there are very agressive horseflies by the lakeside, one single one followed us/trying to land & bite for over 1km while walking back from checking out the resort. There were others but this one would not stop until it was heavily stunned, bug spray did not help. We had to let it land before we could smack it & it took the whole kilometer before we finally landed a hit & got away from it.

All in all, beautiful place, staff is great, clean bathrooms, but there is also a lot of noise from the lake & highway & campers (the noise curfew is pretty well maintained, save for those driving around the camp coming or going right before closing time). I might visit again in the future, there's more I'd like to do/explore. Would be nice to get to rent a canoe/kayak for a paddle when rentals open again. I'm giving it 3 stars, the noise was just a bit too much to rank higher for someone like myself, but if you don't care about/are not sensitive to bass or highway noises then it's probably a great place for you to...

Staff not always there, closed or restricted use of bathrooms, rude staff. When we arrived there was no staff at the gatehouse so we had to find our own campsite, which wasn't bad. What was a shame though was that if we wanted firewood or ice, which they said online that they provide and can be bought at anytime, then we would have to wait on our campground from 4:30pm-9:30pm. One of us wouldn't get to enjoy the lake. Later, one person sold ice and one sold wood. The first person to arrive was the one selling ice and she said the firewood lady would come later. She never came. She didn't even drive past our campsite. When we asked the one selling ice, she said reprimanded us, shouted at why we didn't talk to the one selling firewood, and even chuckled a bit. Completely rude. She told us to go to the host campsite and when we did, the one selling wood wasn't even there. When she finally did come around much later, she was rude and short with us. That's just the first night.. The next morning the bathrooms were closed for cleaning between 9 until after 10 as they were filthy from no staff checking on them throughout the previous day. As there was no notice or warning of the bathroom closure, we indulged ourselves by sleeping in that morning. Going to the bathroom is inconvenient enough during the night while camping but closing the bathroom in peak morning times with NO warning to campers for that long is a bit cruel. To add on to it, they closed the pit toilets right beside the flush toilets. NOT okay during a busy summer season. We were pretty disappointed with the service, but the location is beautiful and it has a popular day-use area beach that gets very busy and crowded. Wouldn't come back because of the two rude camp hosts - definitely soured...

This is one of my favorite places to "get away" to. The camp sites are gravel/dirt but mostly flat and level. Typical BC park campfire ring and picnic table (i.e. good!). All the pine trees had to be removed due to pine beetle but the new trees are quickly giving back the privacy again. The pit toilets have been converted to flush so you don't get any "smells" coming from them and water facets all over the place with showers at th day use area by the beach. Sanidump at the entrance for $5. The lake itself is awesome! Big and quiet due to the speed limit restrictions (20 KM). There is a boat launch if needed although we just have an inflatable dinghy with an electric trolling motor so just cart ours down to the beach, inflate and tie up along the shore with everyone else (hoping it never gets stolen!!). I find this to be more family friendly site and quite in the evenings compared to sites closer to the lower mainland where you get those out for a "good time all night". There are a few RV type people that love to run their gens all day even though there are rules but most are good and only running for a couple of hours (I have a generator but the solar panels keep things charged up and I know I'm making others around me happier!). Kamloops is an easy 20 minute drive away so easy to re-stock supplies if needed not to mention lots of activities there to do (wild life rescue, big little science center for kids, etc). Easily one of my favorite...

Was pleasantly surprised with this campground. It was clean, people were very respectful of garbage and the shared toilets..... OMG, the toilets flushed!!! My only complaint would be the lots are very rocky, so it was almost impossible to peg our tent down. Also, if you're planning on sharing a site with friends, make sure to double-check the lot as our was too small and a 3rd of our tent hung over the ledge (this was totally our mistake) We were told we had to pay for a second vehicle. However, we did not have to pay upon registering. I'm not sure if this was a one-off or something they do if the campground isn't too busy, but it was a nice surprise. The beach area was gross, however, just full of goose poop (I don't know if this is to be expected). However, we did not stay at the beach for more than 15 minutes. Was very family orientated, didn't hear anybody partying, or getting super loud & drunk despite seeing LOTS of people drinking. So that was a huge bonus. The kids' playground was ok. Be prepared to bring a towel or something for the kids to sit on as the slides are both metal. This is our first time camping with our children (8 years old and twin 6 year old), and we will absolutely be camping here again. 4 out of 5 stars 🌟

This park is a short drive off Hwy 5 between Kamloops BC and Merrit BC. Hwy 5 is a major hwy and the access road to the park is well marked, two lanes, paved and in good condition. This park is located on a steep hill side and the walk down to the beach can be a long walk. Some of the sites in this campground are not RV accessible and some sites have steep driveways. No services in sites. If you have a large RV take time to look at the photos on the reservation site for this park. There is parking available at the beach with room for RV’s. There is a dog beach available beyond the boat launch. Good picnic tables and a grassy, pebble beach. No sand. There are signs posted with information on trails in the area and around the lake. A paved boat launch is available. This lake has a posted 20km/h speed limit which is about 12 mph so no water skiing. This park was impacted by the mountain pine beetle so a lot of trees had to be removed from the park. However, the regrowth is doing well and we found some good shade here.
