Overall review is that it's a nice provincial park with lots to offer. Day-Use and Camping review below.

Road to the park is very bumpy but it's not very far so no big deal. Great views along the way. No through road past the entrance to the park so traffic is not a problem.

Ice and firewood sales available on-site.

Little free library at gatehouse for those looking to get lost in a good book.

Day Use Area:

Parking lot is huge with lots of parking spots. There is a boat launch but I didn't go down to it so can't provide any insight on it.

Picnic tables have nice rooftops built above them and there are lots of tables available.

Big field to play in but watch for uneven ground or holes dug by the local wildlife.

Dog beach for your furry friends.

Informative signs throughout the park about the local vegetation and wildlife although many signs are faded and could use a little tlc.

Lake was nice and water was clear. I waded in and it was cool but enjoyable on a warm day.

Camping Area:

Campsites are nice and spaced, with nice open sites, and sites with trees and shade, providing many options to choose from. Many of the sites are classified as "RVs up to 32ft" or "RVs up to 18ft" even though they are easily large enough for a much larger trailer.

I have a 41'6" bumper pull with a quad cab F-350 and all of the sites I observed in the first loop listed as "RVs up to 32ft" were easily able to fit my truck and trailer without any problem, some sites have big rocks around the perimeter and some don't.

There is a playground in the first loop that looked nice if you have kids with you.

One star lost due to campsites being wrongly designated as 32ft and under when a larger trailer can easily fit.

Another thing to note is reservations cannot be made, via the website, past 1:00PM on the day of arrival even when spots are available, in case you arrive spontaneously. There is a 1-800 number posted, available...

Lovely scenery, nice little beach. Not a ton of privacy in the camground and due to topography and layout noise can be an issue. Had a young party group across the road, literally only party site in park, everyone else was family groups enjoying outdoors, park operators weren't willing to do much, ended up leaving. Didn't go camping to listen to a bunch of yahoos drinking, blaring music and partying all day. Worse was watching them DD off campground to grab food in town, had I the presence I would have reported it but didn't catch plates and was occupied packing up. Have to say park operators were willing to move us, but not like any decent sites were available. End of the day wasn't getting any reasonabke enjoyment from the rental, forfeited the full costs plus fees and found alternate accomodations at further expense. Kicker is no one would take responsibility. Not park operators, not bc parks nor reservation site. All pointed their fingers at each other and fed us false information on pursuing refunds. Thanks for routing us to dead links and circular shortcuts. They might have approached group and asked them to consider campers around them, I'm personally not approaching a bunch of inebriated individuals hoping to reason with them. It might be a fine park but our experience was poor. I'm not against having a good time, hopefully you're respectful of those around you while you do it, those are not mutually exclusive. Sorta ruined the trip and soured me on BC...

Always a great stop

We are a class A 36' RV with 3 late teens, a car, and a dog. The kids slept in 2 tents. We stayed for 2 nights during a 2 week loop through BC. Monck is a regular stop for us as its very affordable and as with most prov sites, they are spacious, well groomed, and in Monck's case, an amazing view from most sites. Points lost are no fault of the park, the lake is just super cold and this time around it had a heavy, green bloom that we had to shower off.

Pros . beautiful views . big sites, spacious, hard to complain about anything . some hiking, not a lot but some . the park itself is huge, you could easily kill a couple of hours just walking around . dog-friendly park is quite large, although its put off at the back, its quite large compared to most places

Cons . lake water is freezing cold, its the coldest lake by far I've been in BC and I'm a resident . green bloom in the water when we were there. Getting out of the lake you could see the fringe on our bodies. We had to use the outdoor shower on the RV to wash it off . Although the sites are nice, I'd caveat it that for RV'ers or trailers they seem to be backwards. We had to turn around so we could pull in face first. We walked the park and it seemed like most sites were like this. They should reverse the route. . There is a dog beach area, but its way at the back of the park and kinda crappy to be honest. The small beach area for dogs was dirty and not...

We have now been here three years in a row. Love this spot. It can get quite windy, so bring extra tent pegs and guy wires. Generally this place is really chill, not a lot of partiers, but I'm sure people do get rowdy here from time to time. The camp has a quiet time of 10pm-7am and it seems like they try their best to enforce this. I would say this campsite is targeted toward families, as they have lots of playgrounds and day areas. They also have a large day area for people that aren't camping, that can use the beach front and large grass fields. There are a lot marmots and due to that this whole campsite is a dog leash only area. It would be nice if they had a dog only beach, or a space for dogs to play/run together. Most campsites, I would say 90%, have really good tree cover so you should be able to get some good shade in the mornings. As for RV hook up's, there are tons of sites with hook up's and they allow generators within reasonable hours. Staff has always been awesome, helpful and friendly. They have firewood and ice at the entrance for purchase, so if you forget something they got you covered. Worse case scenario the town of Merritt isn't far away, we have actually had friends drive there to buy clothes because they forgot theirs at home, before. We would definitely come back again and would recommend to anyone looking for a campsite that is reasonably close to the lower mainland.

We had an extremely disappointing experience at this campsite due to the unprofessional and judgmental conduct of the staff. Even if our party of 5 adults did not adhere to the site's strict 4 adults and/or 4 underage policy, we were split up and placed on opposite sides of the campsite. There was a free campsite beside our first campsite but staff deliberately separated us. It is perplexing that our group of 5 adults was deemed problematic (we were just trying to check in), especially considering the numerous noisy children, barking dogs, and ppl smoking weed present. The second site also had left over garbage from the previous campers. We maintained a low noise level, as the staff kept repeating how strict their low noise tolerance was, but their rude and hostile behavior was unwarranted, and it was evident that we were judged and profiled from the beginning. Ruined our vacation, and experience. We will not be returning. Camp site is also very open with no privacy and barely any trees for shade. Bring a tarp or you'll be roasted.
