Warning: DO NOT CAMP HERE ESPECIALLY IF YOU’RE NOT WHITE For Day Use maybe as long as you get in the water asap and leave right after…
I’d like to give more stars because the lake and nature in general is very beautiful. However, 2 redneck park rangers (old man and an old woman) came at us very condescendingly and were very racist.
When we got there, they passed us while we were setting up and they instantly came at us saying the campground is for reservation only and that we should’ve booked it 2 days before if we wanted to use it. The BC parks website literally says it’s on a first come first serve basis hence why we came so early and drove all the way from Vancouver. If they didn’t want folks to not use the campground for day use then they should’ve told us that and mentioned that there is actually an area for day use only. Why did they have to lie and tell us “We’re gonna have to ask you to leave now, this campground is for reservation only.” That’s misinformation. We then drove by down the road and found a day use area (only a parking lot) and asked another lady (not a park ranger) if the campground is for reservation only and she said it’s on a first come first serve basis and she’s not sure why those rangers told us it’s for reservation only. The 2 rangers were very racist towards us so if you’re not white then expect a different treatment.
I thought you can remove the leash of your dog while you’re on your own camp site as I’ve seen from 3 other camp sites having their dogs off leashed. But we leash them once we go on walks. She came at us saying we broke a rule and I quickly acknowledged that as I was unaware and thought it was okay if it’s in our own camp site and that I was sorry and quickly leashed my dog. When we were leaving…the 3 other camp sites I saw earlier still has their dogs off leashed…so why did they tell us that when they didn’t with the other 3 camp site who by the way were all white? Can someone explain me that? Even on some photos posted in the reviews, you can see dogs being off leashed and also on a paddleboard with their owners when if they went by the book, it’s not allowed at all. There were even dogs in the beach area when I was there playing fetch in the water while me and my dog waited in the car. Those 2 rednecks completely discriminated us. DON’T EVER VISIT UNLESS IT’S FOR DAY USE AND AVOID 2 RANGERS WHO ARE IN...

Read moreThis place was another hidden gem we found to be so refreshing and not too busy. Parking could be a lot better. The parking is at the top entrance. That being said there were signs all over saying “no parking” by the boat launch. So we dropped off our stuff and had an adult go drop off the car at the top parking lot. In that 5 mins of unloading the park ranger came ripping down in her golf cart. Super aggressive saying, “ There’s no parking here!!” My husband looked at her confused since our vehicle was running and it was quite evident the legitimate 20 signs all up and down the drive to the boat launch stated no parking!! We explained that we were not parking there. This park ranger woman aggressively did it to two other people who used the launch while we were there. Another group of campers came to tell me that this woman just had a huge fight with other people using the lake a couple days ago. A screaming match!!!!! It was very evident this woman has zero tact and inability to speak with public appropriately. (Public can be frustrating I get that) NOT ONLY did she do that when we got there SHE DID IT AGAIN WHEN LEAVING to pick up our belongings because there’s no way you can walk paddleboard and coolers all the way up to the top parking lot. Finally I said to her.. “Yes, we decided that we wouldn’t park here, since there’s about 20 signs I can count saying NO PARKING”. We were so excited to find a new campground we haven’t been to. Safe to say my husband and I both agreed camping around that woman would be extremely frustrating and we will not be visiting this park to camp- or ever again for that matter. Unfortunate.
Gorgeous area however, and totally worth a visit if you can steer clear of any aggressive...
