Gorgeous (free!) UNSUPERVISED red-sand beach on the Northumberland shore of PEI. Getting there is gorgeous, too, as you drive along the scenic back roads. As others have mentioned, it's probably the most fun at low tide, when there's more beach to explore, but that just means at high tide there's more shallow water to play in. Open for day use 9am-9pm (at least in the summer season).

I wasn't able to find this info anywhere, so I'll make sure to mention it here: PEI provincial parks (NOT national parks) are free for day use, including Argyle Shores. There's no entrance gate, just a sign pointing you down a lane. The lane ends at the edge of a cliff in a field where you can park. There's a set of long, steep stairs to get down to the beach-- definitely not wheels-friendly, or for people who struggle to navigate stairs (see the picture).

For those who can't or don't want to go down to the beach, there are some places to look out over it, as well as a few pieces of playground equipment, and lots of room to run around. There is a fence along (at least part of) the cliff edge. There are restrooms, and one spigot with a platform under it where people can wash feet or clams (see sign in pics) or fill up water bottles (the water is amazing! and regularly tested, there was a park guy doing that while I was there) with a shower head on it for rinsing people off, as well.

We got there fairly early (10ish) on a weekday during the summer, and it wasn't busy at all, but it had picked up by the time we left about an hour later. Still, much less crowded than the more well-known beaches like Cavendish (also awesome!), and there's plenty of space to spread out and explore even with...

We arrived on the 2cnd Aug with 3 adults and 2 kids, entering the beach part of the park at the falling of the super moon tide; watching it go out for several hours. For each interval of about 30 minutes or so, we would venture out to the revealing sand bars, each one appearing after the other, like a round stone you skip on the ocean we awaited how many would appear.

What a stunning experience, red, red sand, smooth and soft. Gorgeous cliffs and picturesque skies.

What a wonderful place to see ocean life; crustaceans galore.

This is a must see place...

Our family (group of 7 adults) travelled here on Saturday August 13, 2022. This was not planned, we basically picked an area and drove around the coast line and came upon lots of cool places - including this one! We all loved this spot. The waterfall over the side of the cliff into the ocean is unlike anything I’ve ever seen. The views are incredible, and it had less than 30 people there when we went in mid day which was surprising! I would highly recommend checking this place out. Not much really to do here except enjoy the water and...
