This was my first time visiting Burgeo and Sandbanks Provincial Park, and this whole area is incredibly beautiful and is truly a hidden gem in Newfoundland!!

The natural landscapes are unique with hilly terrain, numerous rock islands, hiking trails, and wonderful, sandy beaches.

The park ranger, Perry Young, couldn't have been nicer giving me a detailed synopsis of the park and it's highlights on a map, recommending some good places to eat in town, and later that evening taking me on a fun and educational wild berry hunt in the park (the Gooseberries and Dewberries were delicious)!!

The park manager, Derrick Mercer, was very helpful and pleasant as well, providing me with a few plastic bags for my ferry journey to Francois.

Well done fellas, your customer service skills are outstanding!!

Get to this park, and like me, you will surely come back...

The park does not have a lot of sites, but there is so much to explore! The sites are private compared to other campgrounds we've been to on the island. No trouble parking our 21-ft trailer, but the roads are quite narrow... larger vehicles/trailers might be more difficult. Sites and facilities are very clean. The employees were very helpful. Just a tip if you're coming here for the first time: the Burgeo highway is 146km off of the TCH with NOTHING in between. Also once you get into Burgeo, there is no sign telling you to turn right off the main road onto Inspiration Rd to get to the park. Finally, to get to the sand, it is a bit of a walk...10-15 min (I walk slow). Would...

Was there a few years ago . The drive there was crazy. The water was so cold in August you could walk with your feet in the water. Beach or I should say beaches were nice if the fog was not there. The locals really did care for the tourist. The Staffan the park were good. Could not find a place to buy sea food the market seemed to always be closed. We went on a walk from the beach that never ended. And when it ended we found ourselves 5 kilometer out side of town. Lucky for us a local gave us a drive back to camp site. If you like bakeapple they were in abundant on the walk. The mosquitos in the park were crazy. If I go there again it would only be for...

Spent the day her with a couple of friends, the beach is amazing. I've lived here all my life and haven't been there since I was a kid. I have seen pics and wanted to go back again. Newfoundland is not known for beaches like this. When walking the beach and you think you have reached the end due to a rock outing(pic 5). There's a path that goes out to a lookout, and there is another km of beach. There are also trails in the area and a park that you can stay at. It's about an 145km drive once you turn off the TCH. The road is rough in most areas. But it's worth the trip.

A must see location! Sandbanks has the most beautiful sandy beaches, and there’s a least 4 strips of beach so even if the park did get busy you’d still have plenty of space to yourself. A surprise to me is the park wasn’t only beaches, there was beautiful dune grasses and bog land if you followed the boardwalk trails. The flora at this park is spectacular and I went in May. I’m sure it’s even more beautiful in July. Easy access from Burgeo and nice even on a cloudy day.

It’s Sept 15 and besides ourselves, there was only one other campsite being utilized last night. The beaches, sunsets and hikes made it worth the drive to Burgeo from Gros Morne. The combination of the archipelago and the Caribbean like sand made for incredible views at each turn on each beach. It was so nice to have internet here as well as we had a hard time finding it in Gros Morne!! Lovely, small, unserviced sites, but all looked great. Highly recommend.
