Update... July 22, 2024 The lupins died although I did everything possible to save them. Dan from WIG did return my calls eventually and agreed to return my money. I got my money back but I am sad about the plants and the time wasted. The guy who recieved the dead lupins said that the roots were rotten... I only had these plants for 1.5 weeks so, I think the damage was caused before the purchase.

Original review... Last Sunday was my first time visiting this garden place. Several acquaintances recommended this place so, I decided to give it a try. I was looking for two hostesses but the place only had two and they weren't all that great. I bought one hosta, and ended up buying two lupins, and two small rosemary plants.

I replanted or repotted everything I bought the same day. I followed the instructions on the plastic label and kept the original dirt intact as to lessen the shock for the plants.

The lupins aren't doing well. One is almost dead and the other is trying to survive. I paid $15.99 each and I really would like to talk to someone at WIG but they don't pickup the phone or call you back. I am not impressed with the quality of their plants and it goes without saying that their customer service leaves a lot to be desired.

As for the other plants, they are fine for now but it won't surprise me if they also die. Lupins like full sun, they are drought tolerant, they don't require much water, and they bloom from May to July. I placed these plants in full sun, and after repotting them, I gave them a bit of water. I believe I did all that I was supposed to do to ensure that the plants would be fine but still, they are both dying.

I don't recommend WIG. If you want to buy plants at a good price and get great customer...

Stopped by for the first time today, after scouring online looking for somewhere to buy little succulents (Home depot, ikea, and whole foods were all out). Saw that they were the place to go to get succulents so decided to give it a shot. The nicest lady helped me, I did not catch her name but she was so friendly and helpful and helped me pick out succulents, litter herb plants, a very nice aloe plant (with little babies growing, woohoo bonus!) and a bag of potting mix. Being as its September and the plant selection is getting smaller, I was so happy to find they still have tables full of all kinds of beautiful succulents at a great price. So many different kinds! The small ones were $3.50 each, whole foods was $5 each last I checked, and home depot and Ikea were both $3.99. Their succulents were very healthy and robust looking. Home depot and ikea each only had 1 left that was mostly broken and sad looking. I am so glad I checked this place out, its so cute and the service was so friendly, and helpful with big smiles answering all my novice questions. No way I would have gotten that kind of knowledge, advice and explanations from one of the big box stores. I will definitely go back there next time I am looking for more plants and would happily recommend them to...

My wife and I met with Alfred approximately a week ago and when we arrived, the compound was closed. Alfred was good enough to allow us in and purchase plant products. During this time, he gave us a tour of what he does and I can't say enough of how wonderful this experience was.

Alfred was informative and explained in detail the care that he and staff take to ensure a healthy plant product is purchased by the consumer.

We purchased a large quantity of cactus plants and the selection was absolutely beautiful and, at a great savings given that the greenhouse was closed for the season.

My wife and I patronize this location for our home and garden needs and can assure you that even during regular seasonal hours, you will get a great deal and some of the healthiest plants to take back to your garden.

I could write more, but out of all reviews I make on line and I do write hundreds of reviews, Western Independent Greenhouse is and should be your number one choice when looking for and purchasing garden plants and accessories.

The staff and owners are the greatest people to deal with!

I have been shopping here for years and cannot express my gratitude or appreciation for how much this company has helped everyone I know, including my family. Both brother’s and staff work extremely hard and are very passionate about their work and it shows in their product. I often go here to wander around just to clear my head because of how gorgeous there plants are and end up leaving with my wallet empty and just leave with the biggest grin on my face. They help support hospital staff and doctor’s and people in need and most of their work goes unnoticed. Not today! Go here when you get time, I promise you will not regret meeting the brother’s and staff!

I wish I knew this place earlier! The nursery have a great collection of succulent plants, and they start from $4.49. Their pricing are reasonable, and cheaper than the pricing in most of the garden centers in Burnaby/Vancouver area. They also have some annuals, perennials, shrubs, vegetables and etc. You can find most of the common plants to start building your garden. The annuals are on sale now and start from $3.
