Very disappointed about the camping fees with my first time there (from out of province) and will be our last from the experience we encountered there. Let me tell u as it happened, on arriving for camping , we ask for a electrical site (only one site left ), the staff worker told us to go look at it before purchasing which was very nice of them to do so. When we went to view it, it was very muddy to pitch a tent so we went back and ask for a non service site instead ( which alot was available). They say it may fill fast so with us being on a positive side we booked for two nights ( We checked in at 3pm Saturday). We went and pitch our tent as a one would do, as the night went on the people was so friendly that was around us in sites and we met on the campground that wasnt an issue at all to us. When we woke in the morning my husband was all swollen with fly bites and had a allergic reaction. I figured the best to do is pack up and head him to a doctor. I was to the gate 11.15am (Sunday mourning) with everything in my truck I went and told the worker I was cancelling for the second night. She informed me that I had give 24 hr notice but how can a one cancel in 24 hrs when we wasnt even there for 24 hours I said? She say we could not get any fees back because of not giving 24 hr notice for the second night. I left it all alone as I had more of an important issue to deal with.
U mean to tell me medical reasons u can not be reneburised a part of the fee u paid because I had take my husband to a dr and I knew the dr wouldn't allow him back to stay in a tent for the second night due to a allergic reaction to make him worst then he was? Hats off to ur campground and grabbing the whole lot of fees for that second night which no one explained to us at checking in, it was just pass over the form and sign it & grab the money kinda thing. .Hope u enjoyed grabbing the full amount of fees for the second night as we had to leave, more then my husband enjoyed having to go to the dr and was prescribed antibiotics for his allergic reaction due to hives everywhere on his body & scratching like a mad man because it was itching so badly! He had to get medical attention asap. We have proof of his visit to the dr and the prescribed medication as I spoken of. Yes I know flies is crazy at times and uncontrollable but with this situation u could of handled it better then it was handled due to the circumstance. Never again will we attend this campground when we...
Read moreWe visited Albion Lake Conservation Area on Canada Day and had a great time overall! We arrived around 1pm and were pleasantly surprised that there were no lineups to get in. The entry fee was reasonable, although we didn’t expect to pay to access the park in the first place. There was plenty of free parking available when we arrived, which was a bonus.
We came specifically for the swimming pool and picnic area. We brought a wagon with our coolers, drinks, food, camping chairs, and a large picnic mat—no issues bringing any of it in. Staff at the entrance did a quick, non-intrusive check for glass and alcohol, but were respectful and efficient.
To access the pool and splash pad, there was an additional per-person fee, which again was fairly priced, but we felt it should have been included in the general day use fee. That said, the pool area was clean, well-maintained, and had great facilities including picnic tables, shaded areas, and PFDs (lifejackets) available for kids. The change rooms were tidy, with a bit of natural debris as expected in an outdoor space.
The water was quite cold, which made it a bit tough to fully enjoy for some, but many were still splashing around and making the most of the sunny day.
A big shoutout to the lifeguards, who were professional, alert, and actively enforcing safety rules. Their presence made the space feel safe and well-managed.
It’s a lovely spot for a family day trip outside the city, with picnic areas, a pool, splash pad, hiking trails, and campgrounds. We’ll definitely consider returning in the future.
Would have been 5 stars if the pool access was included in the entry fee—but still a...
Read moreFamily of 3. We have been to a few campsites before and decided to try Albion Hills. Went there for Civic long weekend and was not impress with the facilities or the camp site.
From the entrance there weren't much signs that direct you to the camp sites. So you need to get a map when you check in or ask for directions to your site.
Camp site - We were in the River Glen area. Porta-potty were nasty and not maintained in so we had to go to the chalet which is about 5 min walk away. It doesn't sound like much when you have younger children that need to use the toilet, 5 minutes may seem like a lifetime. We also spotted a few broken bottles around the site so be careful when you setup your tents and play areas. Fire pit is just a hole, about a 1 foot deep into the ground and 2 feet in diameter. However, the site we were at had several other holes and made positioning tent or eating area a bit tricky. We ended up covering the hole.
The grounds - there are nice biking trails of different lengths and for different skill sets. There is also a pool (additional charge) and play ground. There are a total of 8 shower stalls for a large area. 4 of which are small lockable rooms (not gender specific) that includes the shower stall and change area, and a similar setup are in the men's washroom and women's washroom 2 stalls each. There is hot water early in the morning but by about 4 in the afternoon you are showering with room temperature water at best. The next shower stall is a very long walk/borderline driving distance.
Would I recommend this campground or go again? No unless I am going for the...
