Today we decided to finally see the fish Creek ice caves. It was a milder day so it was a good day to go. We parked approximately above the ice caves in a nearby neighbourhood and didn’t think that it was going to be a far walk to get there. We discovered that there was a very, very long path going around the park to get to the ice caves and we decided to follow a man-made path. That made our outing very exciting as we were traversing across the hill and almost slipping down the hill and we eventually found a man-made path going down where it was safer and soon found the real path to the ice caves. Was the first time that I’ve ever seen them and I’ve lived in Calgary for many many years and I live just a minute away by car. Read moreDo NOT park on Sun Valley Drive SE. it is a BUSY residential collector road. Use the Fish Creek designated parking areas from Sun Valley Blvd at Sikome Road. It is clearly marked in both directions as an entrance to the park. You have to cross the creek at bridge 11. The ice isn’t safe for crowds now! PLEASE respect nature and conserve this unique spot in Calgary! Tramping all through the woods and breaking woody vegetation is selfish and invasive to wildlife that have homes and food here.
