I have been to the bird sanctuary twice now. I find it very relaxing to walk among the poplars close to the water. There is alot to see and take in. Many species of ducks, osprey in the tree tops, huge schools of sucker fish just under the water surface. There are three or four small pathway loops that are shaded and partially protected from the sun. Charming bridges to cross. You can hear some traffic noise but overall it is a sanity sanctuary as well as a sanctuary for the birds. You can just relax, stroll, listen to bird song and unwind. We took a beautiful walk along the river, where we saw lots of wood ducks, magpies, northern flickers, two sharp shinned hawks and both a juvenile and adult bald eagle. There are benches along the trail that provide peaceful places to sit and watch the river flow by.
