The actual Christmas in the forest is amazing. Lots of fun activities for the whole family and a weekend of indoor and especially outdoor fun. The Cabins are clean and cozy with lots of room to cozy up with the family. Check in and out is easy and there is ample parking. Basically walk everywhere once you arrive.|||| Meals are included with the package and are steam table, self serve type cafeteria style dining. Saturdays Christmas dinner was very good with Turkey and all the fixings, Ham, Sheppard's pie, deserts and the such. Lunch on Saturday was a spaghetti lunch which was fairly simple. ||||The most disappointing part of the whole weekend was the breakfasts. Very limited selection and almost no effort put into it. Basically boiled eggs, toast, cereals, oatmeal and a slim selection of fruit. I would have figured that it could have been more culturally appropriate. Lets face it, there was two whole sections of the steam table empty. Maybe some scrambled eggs, some sort of meat selection, and for god's sake, at least serve some baked beans. Pancakes would have been nice too. This location is in the heart of the Voyageur route with European contact over 400 years ago with Champlaine. The Lumberjacks living in the area afterwards would have had beans every morning. It is in the Heart of maple syrup country. Maple syrup is a local, ecological and culturally significant food source for the region and would have been a tremendous boost to the breakfast. This is the Ecology centre after all, and having a product that could be made right on the property would have been awesome. I guess the reason that I am harping on the breakfast is that it is very dark early and also quiet because it is a family venue. After all the days outdoor activities and no TV and no Electronics for the kids, it was an early couple of nights and early couple of mornings. A good hearty breakfast would have made all the difference in the world.||||So overall it is a great experience with a couple of terrible...
Read moreThis is in the heart of Samuel DeChamplain Provincial Park, absolutely beautiful property. Check in was fast and organized. We were there as part of an organized group camping, and the staff worked very well with the facilitators. ||Cabins are spotless and cozy, control your own heat, it was perfect. Wet clothes dried fast. Our fridge froze most of our liquids into slush, not a huge problem for us but may have been for someone storing meds or perishables. We brought an extra blanket each because we like weight when we sleep. Wouldn’t have been needed though, there were extra blankets. Also, pillows were full and comfortable. Quite sound proof too, aside from the odd light bang or foot steps. ||We had good meals, including breakfasts but I do agree, could have had more fruit options. There was always a plentiful salad bar with lunch and dinner. They accommodated us with the homemade pizza lunch by making a pizza with our lactose free cheese. Meals were planned by our facilitators and really kid friendly. They had dairy free milk available too at every meal. ||The property is well organized and we easily went from one building to another. We were lucky with a mild weekend. The staff was very good with the kids and the outdoor programming was great, kids had a blast. I took a nice walk with some other moms that led us to a lake in the park, it was nice to have walking trails plowed. ||We’re from the north and so to us this was luxury, lol. We’re used to off-grid winter camping, this is very well built with the plumbing and super insulated cabins. ||Thank you for a...
