Outside of a well done small exhibit room, nothing. Understanding that their purpose is not to entertain visitors, this operation is still a big disappointment. There are no explanatory signs, charts, diagrams or anything to give you a clue as to what or how the empty concrete pools or the machinery are used for. There is a long perforated metal walkway to a dam. There is obviously a great deal of water rushing through a channel under that walkway, but why? For what purpose? At the dam, again, zero information. We saw salmon downstream of the dam which had one gate open but no salmon getting through that we could see. So what was next? When? Very frustrating.

People have reported seeing black bears sometime, somewhere there but that would be total luck if you did. The management of this hatchery has totally squandered the opportunity to help inform the public of the value of whatever they do there, however they do it. From the visitors standpoint, it is disappointing and a big waste of...

Free self directed adventure. There is a small interactive area with a glass floor section (too bad it’s over top fake fish instead of real ones but still cool). There are displays, write ups and a video to watch. Then you go outside to the holding pond and on to the river to watch the salmon swim. If you are really lucky an eagle or blue heron will fly down to fish. The trees & country are beautiful. The facility is equipped with washrooms but they were really filthy and unkempt- no soap or towels to dry hands, area to dispose of feminine hygiene products had no bag,...

As a tourist it was interesting to see so many salmon in one place despite being unsure of what was actually occurring in the hatchery at the time. We ventured for a walk upriver and found there were a couple of black bears taking advantage of the man made structures congregating the salmon, to provide a meal.

The hatchery was closed (after 3.30pm) so whilst i cannot comment on the hatchery the surrounding had trails along the river, shared by the bears 🐻! Caution required. We watched several bears feasting on salmon in late September, the fattening up season. Also eagles and kingfishers in the area. Spectacular.
