This place is very overhyped. It has a lo-o-ong looped very easy walking trail. And it's boring. So, if you want to face the "main dish" of this place, go strait to the mountain cliff(left path at the road-fork) and don't waist time on that long loop. I am not saying that this path is bad, but you have visited hundred of walking trails MUCH interesting that that one... did you really came on that mountain from the other part of the province for that? And I think that there are a lot of problems to park here as you came here() because this place is overhyped. We came here at 10 a.m. and had to wait hour and a half to enter the place... again, the parking lot is huge so imagine the crowd. On the other hand I gave this place 4 and not 3 because of the cliff... it is really spectacular. And it is really worth visiting. It's windy here, so I recommend bringing some light jacket and a light hat. They have here very convenient wooden path with balconies for viewing the surroundings. And this view is good. I am not happy at all with the unreasonably complicated queue for parking and the trail itself. But I am VERY glad that I came to this top of...

The Skyline trail was our first stop out of Cheticamp once we made it into the Cape Breton park. It was rumored to be one of the easiest and the best trails in the park. My thoughts: -Parking was kind of a hassle so arrive early or expect to walk a half mile just to get to the trail head. -Unless you're interested in hiking just to hike, skip the loop and take a left at the first fork. The good lookouts are all on the south end of the loop. The north side of the loop was underwhelming, basically a flat path in an open field for the most part. -The views from the built in trail on the south end of the loop are amazing. -Pretty much anyone should be able to make the walk here if you can handle the distance. It is almost 100% flat the whole way there and the lookout even from the very top is excellent. There were also zero places washed out or flooded, it is very well kept. -Definitely bring sunscreen, water and an additional layer like a hoodie. The breeze out by the coast is strong, but as soon as you head back you'll be baking in the sun in an open field again.

Absolutely recommend this hike, it was excellent and well...

Okay, this is for the non-hikers, or those a little less fit, or both - like me. What others are calling an easy hike is definitely true...on the way TO the boardwalk lookout. In that direction you are descending to the end of the trail, and beautiful views. Coming up from there is another thing altogether, and on the way up I understood the need for benches placed at intervals along the trail! That being said, it’s definitely worth the view, and you don’t want to miss it! Take water (which we didn’t do) and take rests coming back up the stairs if you need to. I really didn’t think I’d need to, but I did. Wear sunscreen. Bring a good camera (attached pics are from my phone and don’t do it justice). And bring your lucky penny or wear your lucky socks since when we went today, there was no wildlife in sight, not even birds! (And calling ‘Here Moosy-Moosy’ does nothing except get you weird looks).

An aside: I’m very afraid of heights, but had no problems at all as the boardwalk is away from edges, and is very solid underfoot.

Beautiful, beautiful views. So...

Skyline Loop Trail was a very easy trail to walk. It is 5.1 miles to do the loop and most finish in 2.5hrs. I take a little longer due to some mobility issues (3 hrs). There are almost no roots, just fine gravel and relatively flat. The views at the midpoint of the loop (left side) are stunning. There is a long multi level boardwalk that is the main goal of this hike. I recommend walking to every level because the perspective of the view changes with each. Lots of benches at each level of the boardwalk to rest and view. Not being from this region, I particularly enjoyed the different growth in the forest. I did not see moose or coyotes but they are said to be a fairly common sighting. There is a park style commode halfway through the 'left side' of the trail, which can be used as an out and back to shorten the overall trek.We saw kangaroo rats, chipmunk, and birds. In off season parking was still full so I recommend getting here early in peak season. Also know they will have park staff verifying you paid admission ($9CAD per person).
