Cape Breton Highlands National Park, located along the iconic Cabot Trail, is a must-visit destination for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike. During my visit, I was mesmerized by the park's stunning landscapes, rugged coastline, and diverse wildlife.

The Cabot Trail offers breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean, with plenty of opportunities to pull over and admire the scenery. The winding roads take you through lush forests, past dramatic cliffs, and alongside picturesque fishing villages, providing a true taste of the beauty of the Maritimes.

One of the highlights of the park is the wide range of outdoor activities available. Hiking trails meander through the park, offering varying levels of difficulty and stunning views. Wildlife enthusiasts will be delighted by the chance to spot moose, bald eagles, and other native species in their natural habitat.

For those looking to immerse themselves in the park's natural beauty, camping is available at several campgrounds within the park. Waking up to the sound of the ocean and the fresh scent of pine trees is an experience like no other.

Overall, Cape Breton Highlands National Park is a wonderful place to visit. Whether you're driving the Cabot Trail, hiking the trails, or simply taking in the scenery, you're sure to be enchanted by this beautiful corner...

Im going to be honest here since it’s what I would want from a Google review. The Cabot Trail is beautiful yes, but not for the entire drive. If you are an ADHD woman like myself (ok, self diagnosed I’ll admit) this drive was LONG!!! Are there times you can stop at a scenic overlook and get a picture? Yes. Do these begin to seem tedious as the drive continues? Also yes. It’s also important to remember this drive is super long for kids and the views from your vehicle are intermittent. If you enjoy trees, like…a LOT of trees, you’ll love the starting from East side and going all the way around. What I WISHED someone had told me was that just travelling along the West side would offer you the most beautiful views and ocean side drive. I would have saved myself 8 HOURS and just driven up the one side and then turned around. But, to each their own. Don’t come at me Cape Breton, you are a beautiful place but coming all the way from Ontario, I needed the Coles Notes version of this trail....

Breathtaking Views for the Whole Family. The Cabot Trail is truly one of the most scenic drives in Canada. From start to finish, the Cabot Trail amazed us. Every twist and turn brought new, breathtaking views — soaring cliffs, endless ocean, and fall leaves. It’s more than just a drive — it’s an unforgettable journey through nature’s best. Perfect for family bonding, fresh air, and filling your camera roll with beauty. We stopped at several lookouts, each offering postcard-worthy views. Don’t miss Skyline Trail for a magical sunset! Highly recommended for nature lovers and road trip fans alike & Fall is the best season.....Remember to pack your snack and treasure your time there... Enjoy...

We drove on the Cabot Trail counter-clockwise as recommended. The first half of the trail until Dingwall was not that impressive. There were only about 2-3 lookout points that we stopped for. We watched the sunset on Cabot Trail. It was spectacular! However, past Dingwall, Cabot Trail is indeed the most beautiful coastal view in the world!!! There were sooo many lookout points on that side. I am glad we stayed at Cheticamp for the night and continued on Cabot Trail in the morning where we saw the view better compared at night time. We would love to do this trail again in the Fall to see the colours. I can just imagine how beautiful it must be.
