Very fun conservation area! The open has a nice gravel parking lot, fairly sizeable and free to use. There is an adjacent dog park that had a good amount of field space. There are a few historical buildings with a poster giving information about the history which is interesting. There is a jungle gym and park for kids and a picnic area, though at present the picnic area is closed. There are two paths, one an open loop for hiking or cross country skiing, the other the Old Growth Trail along the river. The Old Growth Trail is not a loop but the trail is moderate, with lots of hills and narrow areas that make for a very fun hike! Gorgeous views and lots of nature to see.

This is by far our favourite conservation area. Tons of green space to run around and the trail is perfect for our little adventurers! The trail is impeccably maintained and was quite exciting for our kids when we got to the forested part. Our little ones thought we were on a magical adventure. Highly recommend. There is also a lovely dog park which is also very well maintained.

Beautiful conservation area! Nice, well kept wide path along the river, up the ridge and through the woods. Nice mix of meadow and lookout points as well. The old growth path goes under the highway and is a bit more of a challenging hike with many hills. It is much quieter but a lovely hike. The path is slippery if it has rained.

Been going to this place for close to a year every day sometimes twice a day with my dogs. There's the Elgin historical Fair going on, and apparently when you rent out the front of Dan Patterson for a fair nobody is allowed to use the trails at the back?!? They advertised how the dog park will be partially closed not that it's closed completely or that the public can or cannot use it and there's definitely nothing stating that the Dan Patterson is it closed to the public for that weekend. The other thing that bothers me is that the old man standing at the gate has no problem looking at dogs and saying that dog is going to bite people even though he doesn't know the person or the dog. EITHER WAY DONE GIVING DONATIONS TO THESE PARKS AND I'M DONE CAMPING AT ANY CONSERVATION PARK THAT IS CONNECTED TO KETTLE CREEK. They should have signs stating that the park will be closed to public instead of just a sign talking about...
