Wow, this place will let you know what type of shape you are in. Had us suckin wind for a bit as we are new to the hiking/walking game. Trails were nice, could be a bit better organized in terms of signage. Stopped for snacks and made our way to Holmes Peak. The view is incredible once there, sit back and relax. Ride on the swing that goes over the cliff if you are brave enough. Almost set off my vertigo so I had to stop. Kids enjoyed the majority of the walk but afterwards they knew that walk kicked their butts. All in all, we had a great time, met some interesting people who were all very nice and were helpful in getting us on the right path since it was our first outing here. Highly recommend 👌 and we as a family will definitely be back for many more walks

Incredible area. It wasn't too busy despite the long weekend tandem to our visit. We walked into the Mackenzie Bight, and it was surprisingly a great swimming spot to cool off. Beware of the barnacles, so I'd suggest a pair of aquatic shoes if you plan on being in the water. There were two trails in where we went, both on a fairly heavy incline but one with more stairs and loose dirt. It is not difficult but I would recommend being prepared for a bit of a hike. As the views would suggest, this area of the province is second to none. Great place, kid friendly, and worth a visit for sure

Gowland Todd is a very large park in the Victoria region. I have done the Jocelyn Hill hike that provides amazing views over the Finlayson Arm and Sannich Inlet below. My most recent visit was to Durrance Lake and to take in the mountain bike trails above on Partridge Hills. Although the Lake isn't in the park itself it provides a terrific parking lot as well as public washrooms as a starting point for your day. The trails can be hiked or rode on your mountain bike like I did. My goal was to reach the viewpoint of the Partridge hills and was worth the effort to get there.

Fantastic hike with extensive trail networks. Recommend you start at Jocelyn Hill Trailhead and follow the orange markers just over 3km to the summit, then back again. It’s a beginner-intermediate climb with the odd section where you need to thread your way up or down. The views start about 2/3 of the way up. Amazing panoramas of the mountains and Georgia Strait at the top and many great picnic spots. For a shorter and easier climb with great views and tons of room to run around, also try nearby Lonetree Hill.

Gowland Todd is a beautiful place to hike and my new favourite hiking spot in all of Victoria. Scenic views all around. Great place for dog walks and dog hikes. Lots of areas for bird watching along with the veiw of Finlayson Arm in the background. You can start the hike in the Highlands and hike all the way to McKenzie Bight. I highly recommend this park. Earlier hikes in the day are better because the parking lots seem to fill up fast. The best views are at the top of Jocelyn Hill. Enjoy!

I could spend all day here, and regularly do. Hikes from Caleb Pike parking lot to Holmes Peak (and its swing), Jocelyn and amazing views, onwards to the Mackenzie Bight with views Squally's Reach on route. Or park at Durrance and go in reverse. Hikes from 30 minutes to all day. No overnight camping, and gates on parking lots do lock overnight. No water on site and the couple of streams that are in the park run dry during the summer (and need filtering if you want to risk it).
