A great beach to take a walk at and/or sit back and relax and do some sunbathing. For walking, it must be close to 1 km of shoreline from the 1st main parking lot area to the far left 3rd parking area and past. Maybe more if you walk past the signs that say you're entering a Native Land area.
When the tide is out, you can walk the sand bar and look for sea life, or wait till the tide comes in just a bit and walk in ankle-deep water before it comes in too far. If you do, you'll get stranded out there walking through more water to get back to dry land. Great views of James Island and San Juan Islands and all the way down to Mt. Baker in Washington State.
Great beach for doing a little sunbathing as well. Most of the families stop at the 1st parking lot, or the 2nd area that's horizontal to the beach. But if you go down to the last 3rd parking lot area past the campgrounds, and walk along the beach path and sand bluffs for 5 to 10 minutes more, you'll find some more secluded areas to get away from the noise of loud and obnoxious kids and dogs and be at peace more.
Also a great area for people to do paddle boarding and kayaking right from the beach areas. Which is on my to do list someday when I'm there.
The only downfall is...(and I say this being a dog lover myself)....is when dog owners don't obey the laws and keep them on leash like they're supposed to. Nothing worse than lying there in the sun enjoying some vitamin D, and a dog comes along and walks up and jumps all over you because the owner just lets them walk wherever they want and doesn't pay attention to them!!!...
Read moreAmazing low key, driftwood, rocky beach with a cool vibe. Camping if you wish but for me it's a bit not far enough out of the city & no real private or secluded treed spots so I do not understand the draw unless you are camping close to home to just be away from it all but close enough to zip home for a shower & McDonald's for coffee for you & breakfast for the kiddos Perhaps that's the draw.😊🍔 I love the feel of the ocean. It is mystic, magical & completely off the grid. Full of Sea kelp & although perhaps not great for swimming, you can paddle board & kayak beautifully & certainly cool off in this heat! Great off leash dog walk for miles. Lots of nice people & a lovely vibe. Free parking for now as that's been an issue but for now, all good. Enjoy the...
Read moreAlthough this beach can get somewhat crowded at times, it is a very nice sandy beach to come out and relax or walk. The tide affects little of the nice beach area, and the recreational area and amenities make this a perfect choice for a picnic, afternoon relaxing or just a walk. There is a small network of trails you can use (about 5km ish total not counting the continuation onto native land) and the recreational areas include picnic tables and multiple washrooms.
As of this post, COVID had not impacted the use of washrooms and picnic tables. Beach fires aren't allowed and fire marshals do patrol the area in the evening so be sure to know the rules and...
