Terrible Experience - Not Worth the Money and commute
I recently visited Elora Gorge for tubing, and it was a complete disappointment from start to finish. We paid $54 per person, and frankly, it felt like a waste of money. Here’s why:
Lack of Value for Money: • The fee only covered the equipment. We didn’t receive any additional services or amenities that could justify such a high price. For what we paid, I expected a much better experience. Why Are We Paying for a National River?: • It’s baffling that we had to pay so much for access to a natural river, especially when there were no services provided. It felt like we were being charged simply for the right to use the river, without receiving any meaningful support or assistance in return. No Lifeguard Presence: • To my shock, there were no lifeguards present along the tubing route. Tubing at Elora Gorge can be dangerous due to the currents and rocky terrain, and the absence of lifeguards made the experience feel unsafe. Lack of Assistance at Exit Points: • When we finished our tubing run, there was no one available to assist us in unloading from the tubes. The exit point was poorly managed, and it was challenging to get out of the water, especially after a tiring ride. Inconvenient and Exhausting Return to Launch Point: • The worst part of the entire experience was having to walk over 35 minutes back to the launching spot if you wanted to go for another round. There was no shuttle or bus service provided to help tubers get back, which is completely unacceptable given the price. This long walk, especially while carrying heavy gear, was frustrating and exhausting. Lack of Excitement - More Like a Lazy River: • To top it all off, the tubing experience itself was underwhelming. The speed of the river was very slow, and there was little to no excitement. It felt more like floating down a lazy river than the thrilling adventure we had been led to expect.
Overall, the experience felt disorganized, unsafe, and grossly overpriced. I expected much better from such a popular attraction. I would not recommend Elora Gorge tubing to anyone and will certainly not be returning. Save your money and time—there are far better...
Read moreWe camped here for two nights. We have been to other campsites before, and never experience such a thing before. During the night after 1:30 AM we heard some footsteps, and it was so scary because there was no security around or nobody around us to help. We quickly jumped in to our car to go and see if there’s anyone at the front entrance of the campsite, but to our surprise, there was nobody around . We even knocked the door and made lots of sounds to get attention, but there was nobody around, and the entrance was totally open; so anyone could drive to the campsite without having any permit there was no gates or no door to be close during the night. As you can imagine, we were so scared and couldn’t sleep until the morning. in the morning we asked the staff to see why there was nobody at the front entrance, No security no patrolling. They said because they’re short staffed, They didn’t had anyone available from 1 AM to 7 AM. We spoke with T.Schell and she clearly doesn’t know anything about customer service or security or patrolling , because when explained to her what happened last night she said:” oh well, we could’ve just not come here to listen to your story and we could have just said oh poufff “ she also said: “because we are short staff we don’t have enough employee to cover the patrolling in the night “ She also said most of their employees are students so they cannot work as much as before”. Well, it’s not the customer's problem that you’re short staff if you cannot provide customer’s safety like before you should just close and shut down your campsite. it’s so funny when we have to pay the full price but not get the full service and safety BUT they don’t provide the service like before and they just simply say oh we are short-staffed! To me it doesn't make sense, if it was McDonald or a retail I would totally get it, but this is a huge campsite and its about our life. I will never come back and also just wanted to tell you a very safe campsite “Rockwood” which has 24/7 patrolling and its very beautiful, you should try...
Read moreGreat time! Not too busy went during the week during the day. Gorgeous. Would recommend bringing swim shoes as there are some rocks in the water in some areas. You can't see through the water, but seems relatively clean. $10 for entry when we went. There is re-entry, but not on weekends. You can drive into town within 6 minutes and get food, but there is nothing directly on-site. No dogs, no BBQs when we went. You could likely get away with drinking alcohol of you weren't obvious about it, didn't see many people on the beach checking or hassling people. You're not allowed to jump off the large cliff walls it's dangerous, but there is a small cliff opening you can dive off of that is safe. Not much natural tree shade of you want to hangout on the beach so bring a tent/tarp if you have one. Not much/any picnic tables or benches anywhere so bring beach chairs if you have/need them. You can also walk around part of the quarry and look at a pretty nice view from there. Sometimes a full walk around the quarry is closed due to recent weather conditions making it dangerous / closed off. There are other lakes outside of the quarry just around the area where you can fish. Would be...
