A nice addition by the Township of Champlain to welcome visitors to the village of L'Orignal. The life sized resin moose statue is displayed on a nicely landscaped pedestal beside a sign for the village. The friendly looking moose pays homage to the village's name which was likely derived from its location on the Ottawa River. The area was once known as Pointe à L'Orignal (French for "Moose Point") and was where moose crossed the river. The statue is a good photo stop for those visiting the area, as it's location is easily accessible from County Road 17.
