I went with some friends after seeing some pictures of the quarry online. It looked amazing! The reality was disappointing.
The quarry itself is quite large but the swimming area is tiny. When I first arrived, I thought the swimming area was just the kiddy spot. It took us a while to figure out that there was nowhere else to swim. If you find the aerial view of the quarry, see the tiny section at the very tip of the quarry, and the little patch of dirt around it? That's it. It was full of scuba diving students and made it annoying to try to swim. The divers kept getting annoyed at us. Many exasperated sighs lobbed in both directions. The water is FRIGID. Seriously. There is almost no "beach" area to lounge, especially with the divers getting ready. The best thing about the place was the proper bathrooms with flushing toilets. It's 5$ to get in which wouldn't be so bad if it weren't so small / crowded.
On a super hot day, with no divers, this would be a decent - although cramped - place...
Read moreReally unimpressed. Went there for the first time today expecting to have access to the entire area shown in the pictures. In reality, you walk on this small path beside a cabin (before you can even see the water) and a young shirtless man tells you you have to give him 10$ per person. Then once you see what you just paid for, let me tell you, the disappointment sets in pretty quick. What you actually have access to is a small grass area no bigger than a restaurant patio, crammed with picnic tables, coolers, and people. Then you have a tiny sand area that leads to an even tinier "swimming space" which isnt any bigger than your neighbors backyard pool. Everything else is off limits. Pathetic. Got my money back and left no longer than 3 minutes after arriving. Don't waste your...
Read moreWe drove 2 hours and weren’t impressed. The main area is roped off for the exclusive use of scuba divers, owners told us it had to do with insurance issues. Worst part is the little beach area had scuba divers in it as well further limiting use. Plus, the water was frigid. We left to swim at the much more spacious public beach in Gatineau park, would highly recommend given the facilities are well kept and temperature of the water is a lot more inviting.
The pictures that all the Instagram stars post of this place are deceiving, they stand so as to show the blue pools but don’t focus on the actual area you get to use.
It has potential to be a better venue than it is but in its current iteration I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for...
