Went here with my daughters class on a feild trip. This place is beautiful. The class went a learned about pond dipping where they took small strainers nd dipped them in the pond and we found all sorts of insects. The instructor from the reserve taught us all about things we found. It was very cool. We also learned about animals that bred the ponds and why. I never knew raccoons washed their food until now. The second part of the day the kids did a fun art class about animals and how to easily draw them which was really fun. The instructor was really fun. The trails are flat and easy to walk and there are tons of things to learn about . There are benches to rest on everywhere and an information center. The trails and washrooms are also wheel chair accessible. There is ample parking. Highly recommended for outdoor learning. Kids to adults we all enjoyed the reserve...

DIRECTIONS ENCLOSED! This is a beautiful place to visit; quiet, peaceful, well maintained. However, the directions on the internet are woefully grim, and if you don't have the exact information you'll wind up going in the other direction. Directions: Go out highway 1 After Abbotsford exit right onto No 3 road Keep right and drive down to the stop sign Turn right and turn left on the 1st road (which is the continuation of No 3 road) Turn left on Boundary Ignore Boundary Road on the right Just ahead a few feet is Boundary Road going to the Left – take that one Right onto Keith Williams Road Right onto Sumas Prairie Road The Nature Reserve is at the end of Sumas...

I have visited this nature reserve two times: once in the early fall and again in mid summer. In summer the gift shop was open and it was a really nice one! Good selection of local crafts and helpful staff. There are clean washrooms and a water refill station that was very useful on a hot day. You can also get a trail map there. One thing to notice is the walk along the Vedder River doesn't show much of the river at all. It's a shady path but set back from the water quite a bit. However the short trails within the reserve are so nice, you're not missing much in that regard. I hope to see the nesting...

Quiet nature reserve. Has a lot of ducks and herons. There are a few blinds to watch birds without disturbing them. We like to visit when we are in the vicinity. The two closed-loop trails are ready to walk. Reach time we went, we saw various birds like hawks and herons in addition to ducks... So many ducks. The visitor centre is staffed by very friendly people. One can get up close with The taxidermy to check out details. We encountered more birds walking the trail along the north lagoon. But the trail around the south lagoon is longer and has a wider variety of flora and a high watch tower. We like them both.

This is a lovely historic stop on our 12km circuit along the Chilliwack River. While we walk in November 2016, a 'nothingness ' season according to the tourism world, we really appreciate the centre giving us some perspective on the area! This is our first trip to Canada. The official tourist season finished in October, and the ski season starts on 24th November, 4 days before we left the country. Though nothing to the tourists trade, we had a ball of a time watching the wild salmons swimming upstream to spawn and die! What a sight during this time!! Canada is well endowed with wild salmons by the abundance!
