An Incredible Day Out at the Airforce Museum in Cold Lake!

If you’re looking for a memorable and educational day out with the family, the Airforce Museum in Cold Lake is an absolute must-visit! This museum is a fantastic destination that combines rich history, heritage, and culture into an engaging experience for visitors of all ages.

From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted with a treasure trove of aviation history. The museum is packed with meticulously preserved aircraft and exhibits that offer a fascinating glimpse into the evolution of air force technology and the pivotal roles played by various planes and personnel throughout history. It’s an incredible way to learn about the brave men and women who have served and the advancements in aviation that have shaped modern air combat.

The exhibits are well-curated and interactive, making them especially appealing to kids. The museum does an excellent job of presenting complex information in a way that’s both accessible and engaging for younger audiences. There are plenty of hands-on displays and educational activities that keep children interested and involved throughout the visit.

One of the highlights of our visit was the opportunity to see vintage aircraft up close. The sheer scale and detail of these machines are awe-inspiring, and the knowledgeable staff are always on hand to answer questions and share interesting stories behind each exhibit.

We spent over an hour exploring the museum, and every minute was worthwhile. The well-organized layout ensures that you can take in all the exhibits without feeling rushed, and the informative plaques and displays offer deep insights into the significance of each piece in the collection.

The museum also has a great selection of souvenirs and educational materials, which are perfect for bringing a piece of your visit home. The staff’s enthusiasm and passion for aviation history are evident and add an extra layer of enjoyment to the experience.

In summary, the Airforce Museum in Cold Lake is a gem for anyone interested in aviation, history, or just looking for a fun and enriching family outing. Its combination of historical depth, cultural significance, and family-friendly exhibits makes it a standout destination. We highly recommend it for a day of learning and...

If you're looking for something to do in cold lake, it's cheap. It's easy to get to. It's in the middle of town. There's a few cool airplanes out front and a carved Wolverine and a big radar station. The museum itself is different. There's the main building with a few interesting items and that building takes you to this super long nearly 1000 foot (maybe way longer) tunnel that takes you to all these side buildings full of either old stuff, oil stuff or indigenous stuff. Nothing that really blew our minds besides the really long hallway but it killed about an hour. The tunnel and main building were quite hot and stuffy when we went on a hot day but it is designed to keep out the elements like rain so could be visited...

This is a great museum that if one were to actually look at all the displays in seriousness, would take the day to get through. The main part of the museum is dedicated to the military airbase at Cold Lake. However there is another section of the museum leading down a long hallway (my kids called it the tunnel) that features the following: Cold Lake history, Alberta oil and gas industry, a room set up in styles from the 60's and the late 1800's (log cabin style), a small vintage classroom, Indigenous history, railroad, and finally farm life in the pioneer days. We would return and we learned alot. The kids also enjoyed the planes out...

I only only toured the Air Force part of the museum and I was impressed at how good it was. The biggest downside is accessibility to the upper and lower parts of the Air Force museum for mobility challenged people when entering on the AF side. All in all some pretty good displays and exhibits of past Air Force uniforms and equipment. I’ll probably visit again.

Probably one of the best neighbors one could ask for. Amazing support & cooperation over years of our construction phases. so helpful letting us use their compound for parking and storage, even the occasional bbq for the crews. Thank you for everything you've done & continue to do for our club. Oh yah, pretty cool planes too. ;-p
