Medical Cannabis Users avoid this place like the plague.
In the three years I have been using medical cannabis to treat my PTSD, I have never been made to feel as unwelcome as I was today.
First I am approached in the parking lot by a young lady with a radio who looked like she was on a mission. Her first words were "excuse me, you can do THAT here". THAT, as it turns out, was me smoking medical cannabis in a huge outdoor parking lot. Where people are allowed, by the absence of signs indicating otherwise, to smoke cigarettes. When I asked about this she told me there was NO designated smoking area and that she encouraged people to smoke in their vehicles, and I quote, "you know, because of the kids". What? Little more staff education needed with that one.
So I get into the chalet, get my son ready for his race, and proceed to ask a young lady wearing a Brimacombe name tag if there was a designated smoking area. She kindly pointed me to an area outside that was clearly marked. Kindest and most helpful girl all day.
I proceed to said area and see that there is a stipulation that there is no recreational use of cannabis, but medical use will be accommodated by talking to the main chalet. Not wanting to cause a fuss, and already quite agitated by not being able to smoke, I went back to the chalet to check in.
This is where is gets really stupid and I hope you see how stupid it is.
I go to customer service. Big line up. I go to the side, everyone glares, as they should. Crickets. So I went outside for a smoke while I waited. Any longer and I was going to lose it.
Finally a lady tried to get me an answer, but failed. Then the manager, I guess, finally showed up. His brilliant plan was that every time I needed a smoke (I smoke 20-30 times in the course of a normal day) I would have to come to the desk, get stared at (increasing my anxiety and agitation) and then someone would escort me out to the back of the building, away from the smoking area.
So, the time comes and I head to the desk to get someone to show me to my special place and I am told that I can just go there myself. So I walk out past the smoking area, past the place where the kitchen dumps all of their garbage and grease, past some sea cans and right in front of some office windows. Well, might as well smoke here. Then I walk back through the smoking area that is now full of smokers to drop off my butts. There was no can in my special area. As an ex-smoker who hates the smell of cigarette smoke I find that kind of ironic. As should you.
Now, to the whole reason for this review. Your BS excuse. You told me that I couldn't smoke medical cannabis with all of the people killing themselves one cigarette at a time because people wouldn't understand the difference between medical and recreational. That is of ZERO concern to me. What I am doing is 100% legal and has been since before recreational was legalized. Like YEARS and YEARS before. (someone tried to use the excuse that they were new to all of this).
You are doing nothing but perpetuating a stereotype that cannabis is bad. It's not. Whether recreational, or medical, it's here to stay. Anyone who smokes or drinks and doesn't agree with cannabis, needs to seriously educate themselves.
As for Little Miss, "you know, the children", who herself wasn't that long ago a child. I have two children who almost lost their father forever a few years ago, because there was no effective treatment for my PTSD symptoms. They have grown up from the ages of 3 and 7 knowing what I smoke every day. I also educate them, which I can only hope other parents would do instead of just judging. If I see someone drinking a beer, I don't automatically think they are an alcoholic. So when you see me smoking a joint, don't automatically assume I am some degenerate dirt bag. I spent spent 24 years of my life serving this country at home and abroad. I'm far from a degenerate dirtbag.
If your goal was to just make me go away, Congrats!,...
Read moreI honestly have been many skiing places but this place I found very disappointed and regret to take my kids here on last long weekends. not only one time but 3 times. First 2 times, we arrived around 8:00 PM (they closed at 9:30PM) with my 2 little kids, they refused to have us check in because we have no reservations (and the reason is we called in and they said we can checkin in person if it is not possible to book online) while the place was not busy at all, parking was free. Second time is same things happened, I tried to finish work early to get there around 8PM and nobody wanted to help us out and did not let us in. my kids were so upset and disappointed. but we tried to understand and came third times, we are a new immigrant family with 2 little kids, and I tried to book 4 reservations online as they said however when I booked it on their website, I did not see they mentioned no snow pants rental on website or anywhere, all I see is Full Skiing Package Rental. We came there and found out there is no snow rental services, we are ok with that and all we asked for is refund One ticket including lift ticket and full skiing rental package that already paid online when they asked for credit card information. they receptionist girl refused to do that and slammed the window in front of us and said That's it!! in front of us with very bad attitude and poor manner when we tried to have a conversation to find a solution that makes everyone happy but not. everyone else inside looked down at us. I called in again to speak with manager but again the receptionist girl said our manager doesn't want to deal or do anything with you. I can't believe that a place was existing for long time having very poor management and untrained, no manner and bad attitude staffs. I made complaints and leave reviews here not to have my money which they charges from my credit card and we did not use their services but I just do not want any other family get into this bad situation again. I believe that all business want make money but make it fair with respect and understanding to clients. I also believe that the main point of all Services Business is not to sell as many as possible but provide a Proper Services and acceptable Customer Services with respect as we always...
Read moreMy honest review of brimacombe ski resort is disappointing. As an avid snowboarder, I decided to come here with my family for the first time to introduce them to snowboarding and skiing.
The price is a bit expensive. The rental, beginner ticket, and 50 minute lesson went up to around $200+. A regular ticket costs around $70 and lasts 4 hours from the time it was purchased.
I was also disrespected by a staff member as upon getting off the lift, I brought up the safety bars a few meters early which I usually do at Blue Mountain and would sometimes not even bother putting it down with no problems. This one individual though lost his marbles and yelled at me saying that after 2 more of those he’d cut my pass off my jacket. Realistically, it wouldn’t be a great idea to lay a finger on me for something so petty. If he told me in a respectful tone, It wouldn’t be an issue and would gladly understand his reasoning, but sadly, this individual would rather threaten you to keep you “safe” without giving any explanation. If anything, he should be focusing on putting the snow on the mat for a smoother exit for us getting off the lift rather than being a certified safety bar glazer.
The food looked promising as I ordered a large poutine and it was loaded to the brim until I took a bite out of it. Unfortunately, the fries were overcooked as they were dark, hard as sticks, with a charred aftertaste.
Overall, I would not recommend this place at all to anyone because of their price gouging, unprofessional staff, and the food is nasty. Would rather spend the extra dollars and hour drive to visit Blue Mountain as a good all-rounder, Mount St. Louis for both beginners, and avid snowboarders/skiers, youth-friendly, and Glen Eden as a good beginner hill from Toronto than to visit this...
