The Airport Beach in Comox/courtney is a hidden gem that offers a unique and enjoyable experience for both locals and tourists. Located just a stone's throw away from the Comox Valley Airport, this beach provides a picturesque setting with stunning views of the surrounding mountains and the ocean.

One of the standout features of Airport Beach is its peaceful and serene atmosphere. Unlike other popular beaches in the area, this beach is relatively quiet and less crowded, making it an ideal spot for relaxation and tranquility. Whether you're looking to sunbathe, read a book, or simply enjoy the sound of crashing waves, this beach offers the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

The beach itself is clean and well-maintained, with soft sand and clear waters. It's a great spot for swimming, as the water is usually calm and inviting. Families with children will appreciate the shallow areas, which are perfect for little ones to splash around and play safely.

One of the unique aspects of Airport Beach is its proximity to the airport. It's not every day that you get to witness planes taking off and landing while lounging on the beach. This adds an exciting element to the overall experience, especially for aviation enthusiasts. Watching the planes soar overhead creates a sense of wonder and awe, making this beach truly one-of-a-kind.

Another advantage of Airport Beach is its convenient location. It's easily accessible, with ample parking available nearby. Additionally, there are picnic tables and benches scattered along the beach, providing a comfortable spot to enjoy a packed lunch or a picnic with friends and family.

While there are no lifeguards on duty, the beach is generally safe for swimming. However, it's always important to exercise caution and be aware of any potential hazards, such as strong currents or changing tides.

Overall, the Airport Beach in Comox is a hidden gem that offers a unique and enjoyable beach experience. With its peaceful atmosphere, stunning views, and proximity to the airport, it's a must-visit destination for anyone looking to unwind and soak up the...

My husband and I had the great pleasure of staying here while we visited family at the base.

Our cabin was excellent. Clean. Modern appliances. A short downhill walk to the beach. The plaque was on the front of the cabin. Harking back to a time of greater cooperation between us and our neighbour to the south.

The beach was incredible, especially at low tide. And the views across the water were excellent.

There's a communication tower on the base adjacent to the beach. Reminds me of fifties sci-fi. I was half expecting plasma pulses and lightning bolts to emanate from it.

Bald eagles everywhere!

But what I liked the most was the Jet Stream Cafe. Now this is a beach food shack! Had lunch here with family and friends. Hot dogs. Cheese burgers. Fries. Usual beach fare that was extraordinary.

It took about 15 minutes to get all the food. They passed it out the window as it was done. Everything was hot and fresh.

The cheese burger was amazing. Juicy and messy but the bun did not get soggy. The great conundrum of burgers is how to do both at the same time. This place can and does.

Oh . . . and the peanut butter and chocolate ice...

Secluded. Quiet. Best Sandy Beach on the east side of Vancouver island.

Although operated by the Canadian Forces, it's not entirely exclusive to CF personnel. Even civilians not working for DND can enjoy a campsite, RV hookup or cabin next to the most beautiful beach in Vancouver Islands east side. There are amazing facilities, conveniences and surprised you'd not expect from a military run campground like gourmet coffee, fried treats, ice cream and entertainment for the family. IF you can book a spot, prepare to be surprised at what they offer and for the ridiculously low rates. I don't know why I'm soliciting this place. It USED to be a secret, buti just can't stop telling people how gorgeous it is. Shout out to Tom, the manager, for running such an great facility with a friendly persona and great knowledge of the camp, CFB Comox and the...
