2 things! I think it's awesome that you can go ice skating on a path within the woods of the park itself. Wish I was younger to skate better and enjoy it more. Lol. 2nd thing! They have this whole winter 'mapping' and customer service of the different sections of the park seperated really well. Upon your arrival within the 'welcone gates' of the park there is a little line up of cars to get in (where you figure you're gonna be waiting forever) due to the different offers they have such as Ixe Skating, cross country skiing and snow shoeing. Well.....wrong... they just direct you to different sections of the park to park your car based on your interest that day. I.E. skating, skiing etc...then you just go and rent the equipment (if needed) of the specific sport you came to do. If you are not interested in any if those mild sports. Read moreWe stayed in the park in mid-September, and came to the Visitor Centre frequently for things like fresh bags of ice and firewood. Park staff were friendly and helpful, and the park store had everything we needed. There was an area for coffee and cold drinks, plus snacks and ice cream treats, the park store which had all sorts of tourist stuff and park merchandise as well as some camping supplies. The centre also had washrooms and a wildlife sightings board for park guests to post animals they had spotted. Read moreYou can rent kayak, canoes, and paddle boats at the provincial visitor park center. Rentals cost around 20$ for 2 hrs and 40$ for 4 hrs. Make sure you arrive at the visitor park center (located at 2min walking distance from the beach) to pick up the keys, safety kit, and life jackets. Don't forget to return them on time (fines are applicable if return is delayed). Parks Canada fees are in addition to the rental charges, and these can be purchased at the permits counter at this center.
