I would not go to this beach again... period. We've visited Kirby's Beach twice with our kids on separate weekends, and both times they developed nasty rashes on them after being in the water all day.

The public bathrooms are disgusting. I wouldn't allow our children into them.

On top of that, they actually have a Goose-Pooper-Scooper patrol lady that seems to come to the park at the end of the day to clean up the goose poo (a lot of good that does - after the fact - when you're there all day with it squishing between your toes!)

I have contacted the Ministry responsible for water safety, as I feel this beach may have "bacteria" issues.

Bottom line: I...

This public beach should not be open. I was there with the grand kids early one morning, and workers in neon jackets were still combing the beach and water for leftover sewing needles and glass. They had a bucket for collecting their finds. I can't for the life of me figure out why someone would allow this park to be open when such dangerous materials are obviously still being found. I would certainly not recommend this as a good environment for letting the kids play. However, if you do go, I would have everyone wear shoes in the water and around the beach area...

Same as the previous reviewer. My family and I were here last weekend when it was hot, and both of my children broke out in a hive-like rash later that evening after coming out of the water earlier in the day. Went to walk in clinic and they claimed it was likely bacteria related. Though they couldn't say for sure. I don't know either, but I would say that with all the geese feces around, and in the water, it's probably the case. This park is dirty, and has way too many boats around for my liking, Not suitable for families, and seems very unsafe...

Came here a few weeks ago and was stunned to learn that the beach had been closed due to "hazardous waste." When I looked it up online, there were stories from all over the media about how some terror group had intentionally put broken glass, nails, and needles into the water and along the beach. Sorry, but I don't care how long you try to clean that up, I just wouldn't feel safe bringing kids to a beach where I knew there were needles and glass around. There's simply no way to get rid of it all, especially the needles. What a shame.

I was just at this place last week, and the town is still cleaning up broken glass, nails and needles on the beach, and in the water, even though they've officially reopened it, after being closed due to this stuff being found earlier in the spring. This worker showed me the glass and nails they found while raking the beach. This is not a place for adults to be, let alone children. Nor is it a safe and responsible move by the town to reopen this park, when clearly there is lots of glass and stuff still in the sand and water.

Kirby's Beach near Bracebridge in the Muskoka area is a hidden gem! The beach was very clean and well-maintained, with some basic but essential facilities like washrooms, changing rooms, and a few benches to relax on. The sandy beach was quite good, and the water was clean with a nice depth—perfect for swimming. My friends and I had a really good time enjoying the sun, water, and peaceful atmosphere. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a quiet and pleasant beach day in Muskoka
