It’s a bridge, no mystery there. This bridge 🌉 was finished by 1960 and is 6 lanes wide. It is originally known as the Second Narrows Bridge. It was renamed in 1994 to its current name, Iron Workers Memorial Bridge to honour the loss of 19 lives when the bridge collapsed while under construction in 1958. It works well for its intended purpose, transporting vehicles 🚗 from one side of the river to the other side. It is starting to show its age but regular maintenance keeps it in good condition. We had no problems going over the bridge.

Nice to walk or bike. Nice views of the mountains and Burrard Inlet. In 1994, it was renamed Ironworkers Memorial Second Narrows Crossing to honour the 19 workers who died in the collapse, along with four others who also died during the construction process.

There’s a spot located under the bridge that’s perfect for some graffiti style city photos. Took a few photos of the area to share with you guys.

I gotta say it is a fine structure. However it is overwhelmed on a regular basis with traffic. Just like the Lions Gate Bridge. If you live on the shore you know the struggle is real. Sometimes I wonder how the ministry of Transportation figures that the two bridges on the north shore are adequately serving us. To boot, there is no way people will make it east of the Seymour if there is a disaster. Traffic will overrun the lanes dedicated to letting people get past the highway and the second narrows.

It is a problem that has been...

Dedicated to those that lost their lives bridge building, this is a vital lifeline to the North Shore. Traffic can get challenging, but it's not a bad bridge really! Be careful, it can get icy in the winter months and the corners that the bridges go straight into as you get off can be unforgiving in...
