Love this mountainous park. It is one of those rare places where it is sure to wow, year-round. With multiple trails of various difficulty and scenery and beautiful small lakes and ponds, it would surely please any visitor. If you ski, that's a bonus for winter ski season. Not sure about their COVID-19 limitations though! it doesn't quite make sense to me limiting access by allowing only registered pass holders (can only get the pass right after 6:00 AM daily and they are gone in a NY minute as they are very limited; 800 or so per day?) to set foot on most trails! The park is so vast that social distancing can be maintained at almost all times...I don't see such restrictions for our beaches! Not sure if any discretion can be applied here. Nevertheless, This is one of my favorite places to visit regularly. Be sure to check out the First Peak!...

Easy/moderate summer hike! Great snowshoeing trail and dog friendly!!!! Why am I giving just 1 star?? Parking....

Summer time is impossible to find a parking spot if you want to arrive after 8:00am. The trail is easy and the view is amazing, so traffic is intense. Parking is a nightmare and hiking can be frustrating if you are in shape or have zero tolerance for slow/rude people.

Winter time is even worse than Summer. Backcountry people need to park 1km (or more) from the trail head because the resort does not clean the parking lot overnight, so they give priority to skiers and snowboarders that are paying to use the premises.

There was one time that I wasn't allowed to go up the mountain at all. Their staff was asking all backcountry to leave...

Now, I go to...

Went there in late December on a Thursday afternoon just after lunch. It was pretty busy for a Thursday. The park had staff checking for winter tires which was a +1. Drove up to Parking lot one. Put on our snowshoes and proceeded towards the group campsite. Looked around for a bit and then we went back to the parking lot to start our snowshoeing at the "old cabin trail"

The route I would say was moderate with some inclines and a couple switch backs. Approx 30 to 40 minutes in you will see a Scouts Canada cabin. Couple Bridges and another 15 minutes or so you will get to an site map know as "screwhead". As there is a screw on the map letting you know where you are.

Another 20 minutes or so you will get to the late. Have...

A beautiful mountain to explore and snowshoe. I took the Dog Mountain trail to the top. There's an amazing view of Vancouver and other mountains from up there. Friendly Ravens and Gray Jays hang out at the top, hoping for a tasty handout. Unfortunately, people feed them unhealthy, non bird food. The trail up to the top is not bad on snowshoes, but I found it slippery and muddy in the spring. It's probably best to wait until the ground dries, unless you go in the winter. The one thing I don't like about this hike is the popularity of it. It's probably best to go during the week and not weekends and holidays, if you want a more quiet experience.

Went hiking on dog mountain trail with my 11lb miniature poodle on Christmas eve. There hasn't been much fresh snow, so I was able to hike with cleats, rather than wearing snowshoes. Trail wasn't too busy but had many dogs off-leash which made me feel uncomfortable as several of them were rather too friendly by almost jumping on my dog. It's a leash-required trail but I was genuinely surprised to see that no dogs were leashed except for mine. I wish the rule can be emphasized more. Other than that, the trails themselves were well kept and the view was okay.
