This review is catered towards dog owners hoping to take their pup on a hike Quarry Rock. Read more… Popularity: 5/5 Quarry rock is a very popular hike and well known for its view of the Indian Arm. There are a number of different trails that can be used to reach Quarry rock, some shorter and easier and others longer and more difficult. The easier more direct trails can get very crowded during the summer months which can make it difficult to manage when hiking with a dog especially if you have a young energetic pup. Quarry rock itself (the viewpoint) is also usually quite crowded during summer and it can be difficult to find a spot to relax and enjoy the view. Activities: 3/5 Other than hiking through the forest and enjoying the view on Quarry rock, there aren’t really any other activities for you and your pup to enjoy on this hike. Dogs are allowed off leash. Views: 4/5 Quarry rock offers a nice view of the Indian Arm and of Belcarra on the other side. It’s not super impressive but not bad considering the short length and relative ease of the hike. Comfort: 2/5 Not many good resting spots during the hike and due to the popularity of the hike, it’s usually difficult to find a comfortable place to relax at the and enjoy the view while at the viewpoint. Safety: 4/5 The popularity of the hike makes it very safe and also makes it very unlikely for you to get lost. However, the viewpoint is unfenced and surrounded by cliffs so you may want to leash your dog if he or she is not careful around heights. Accessibility: 3/5 There are multiple trailheads that can be used to reach Quarry rock and all are easy to get to by car. I started at the trailhead on Indian River Dr and there was a number of spots on the side of the road for parking. Quarry rock itself is only accessible to those who are able to hike. Some sections of the hike can get quite steep and there are stairs and boardwalks in some areas. There are no scrambles on the hike. Overall this is not a hike I would recommend for people who are looking for a fun off leash adventure with their pup. The crowded trails and viewpoint can make it difficult for those with a young energetic dog and the view while nice, is not impressive. There is also a lack of other activities to do with your dog on this hike. It’s a place worth visiting once to check out the view, but there are other more interesting hikes with much better views to explore in North Vancouver.

This hike is easy. If you're in good shape! Lol! For beginners? No! Its intermediate at least, depending on how fit you are. I'm out of shape and this is my first effort trying to get back into a healthy lifestyle. To be fair, you'll see 5 yr olds do it, with their parents, older people in their 60's, perhaps older, and anyone in between. For some, it looks effortless but you see people catching their breath as well. Everyone you encounter on the trail was nice! I was told by one lady with her dog the first 10 mins is the hardest, but for an out of shape guy like me ie. I take walks but not serious hikes, it was a challenge all the way up. I used to do mountain biking about 5 yrs ago. Looking to get back into shape. Would I start here if I knew the steep stair climbs up and down, no! Am I glad I did it? Yes! A couple of Rocky, Top Gun, and Karate Kid soundtracks in my playlist helped me push through. I'm going to have a good sleep tonight! I posted pics of some of the stairs so you will know how steep the climb is. You will encounter a lot of rocks and tree roots along the way so a good hiking shoe is recommended. I had a thin soled running shoe and felt every rock under my feet. Bring water! It helps keep you hydrated to keep you going!

On your way to Quarry Rock, once you are in Deep Cove (the town) and on Panorama Dr, the online map will lead you all the way to a deadend. On Panorama Dr, when you see Panorama Park on your right, start looking for a crosswalk going to Baden Powell Trail. It's on your left, just after the park. Parking is a challenge if you are not there early. There's plenty of paid parking lots. Around the area you can find free street parking for 3hrs. I heard they are strict in enforcing this time frame. It took me 45 mins one way so about 1.5 hrs round trip. Rested up there with plenty of time to spare to quickly look around town, barely. It's touristy so by the time I'm back down, there's plenty of people looking for parking. It's a good experience overall. The view is worth the climb! I just wanted to paint a picture of what to...

Quarry Rock is a fantastic spot if you're looking for a stunning outdoor experience. The views from the top are absolutely incredible—after an easy hike, you'll be rewarded with panoramic sights of the surrounding forest, mountains, and water. It's one of those breathtaking vistas that make the whole trip worthwhile.

A great feature of this spot is the ability to enjoy a picnic at the bottom of the trail before you even begin your hike. It's a peaceful place to relax, have a snack, and take in the beauty of the area. Whether you're with family, friends, or your dog, it's a lovely way to start the day.

Parking is pretty straightforward, especially if you arrive early on weekends. It can get busy, but there's free parking available, and finding a spot isn't too difficult if you're early enough. During weekdays, parking is even more accessible, though I’m not sure about holidays—it's always a good idea to arrive early to snag a spot.

I went to Quarry Rock with my family and our dog, and it was a fantastic experience for all of us. The hike is easy, taking less than an hour to reach the top, and the trail is well-maintained and peaceful. We all had a great time, including our dog, as we enjoyed the serene walk through the forest.

After the hike, you'll find a variety of shops nearby, where you can grab a donut, pizza, coffee, or ice cream. There are also some great souvenir shops where you can pick up items like keychains, clothing, candles, and other fun decorations to remember your trip.

All in all, it was a wonderful experience. Whether you're there for the easy hike, the incredible views, or just to spend time outdoors with loved ones, Quarry Rock is definitely worth a visit. Highly...
