Just a small aspen grove of trees NorthWest of Hafford Saskatchewan that offers unusual mutations of aspen growth. Within the grove, the aspens grow any way but upwards, yet just a few yards away from the grove, the aspens grow proper. The cause for these mutated trees is still unknown. Location is easy to find, well gravelled access road, parking on site, and old fashioned toilet on site as well. Doesn't take long to walk through the grove, although advised to stay on the wooden boardwalk, it was difficult to as some areas of the boardwalk was in need of repair. Went through a couple of times. This would be an awesome place to visit in the night under a full moon! Could be creepily exciting! Not wheelchair assessible. Very well kept grove, meaning no garbage. If you are interested in some of Nature's "in the middle of nowhere" mysteries, definitely go see it, if you are expecting a neatly groomed, commercial touristy site ... it's not for you. INTERESTING NOTE: no internet service in the grove, no wildlife, and no ticks... Makes one ponder.

An interesting mystery 16 km off the highway 52km east of North Battleford. There is a small blue provincial tourism sign that is easy to miss that tells where to turn - yes we missed it and had to go back another day! 16km north and 2 km east on gravel roads coming from NB and there is a small copse of trees with a driving loop around them nestled between canola and alfalfa fields. The trees are bent/crooked, yet healthy for no apparent reason. There is no information there and it isn’t maintained at all. The grass to the very broken boardwalk was half way up your leg and the mosquitos are plentiful as the breeze does not permeate the inner tree walk. We did the walk but hustled to avoid being eaten alive but not so fast as to fall on broken wood or missing walkway. There is a cute little outdoor privy, a picnic table and a garbage can. Worth checking out if on your way somewhere. Not really worth a specific trip.

The crooked Bush, or crooked tree, was a very special experience. Experience. As folks have said, the pathway is worn, but that is nature. I have a bit of a walking disability and I was able to make it to the innermost area using just my crutch. My friend scouted ahead and we decided to go back the way we had came. I probably could have made it, but it would have been difficult. The day we arrived, which was late mid-summer, had very many mosquitoes! I advise putting on repellent before arriving at this destination. You do not want to discharge wildlife by applying at the scene. Mosquitoes are part of nature, so if you can't handle them, then it might not be for you. Unfortunately some folks had carved into some of this amazing life form and that was very disheartening. Please do not do that. Have some respect.
