Superb experience at Buffalo Pound! We were initially very disappointed in our booked campsite in the middle of a crowded field with loads of wind and no privacy at Trails End, but a park employee very quickly and helpfully put it right and allowed us to switch to Maple Vale, which we absolutely loved. We found it very open and friendly, and we enjoyed having the hilly area with a trail all to ourselves. We spent a lot of time walking the lovely rolling hills and beautiful park-like grounds, and enjoyed the little store that sells ice cream and other treats. The next morning (Saturday) there was even a Farmer's Market at the store, selling fresh baked treats and trifles! Apparently this happens every Saturday - just for the campers. Very nice touch! If you are planning to go to the buffalo pound lake, just keep in mind that their staff at the entrance are going to spend at least 5 to 10 minutes on just giving a $10 day pass to you. It means that if there are four cars ahead of you in the Que, you might have to wait 40 minutes just to enter the park.
