I really enjoyed stopping here for 2 nights. The pitch was good and pretty level with picnic bench & BBQ/Firepit. There are a couple of trails we went walking along and with Merlin, identified so many birds, taking photos of quite a few in the scrubby woodland dotted around the meadows. We did get the downside of this with around a dozen dog ticks, but worth it especially for the birds. The lake was also quite pretty especially the first morning when it was mirror-like. They'd just finished a new wasroom block, which was beautiful, but oddly sparce of toilets, urinals and showers for the huge amount of space. It was like a high end boutique with a lot of floor and not much stuff. The showers were free and hot though. The 2 things I've marked it down for is the ridiculous $11 booking fee (we booked 1 night at Battleford and this added on $11 for that too). If we knew it was relatively empty, we could have avoided it altogether. The other thing is in the Email receipt in the Note section, there was nothing about the fact you cannot enter the site from the south and we came from the south. Google maps took us on a pac man journey around small stoned farm roads with each way to the park blocked and locked by a Parks gate. So we arrived much later than we should have. When we mentioned this to staff at the office on the last morning, they said they couldn't change it as it was run in America. Pfffff to that I thought. Change those and it'd be 5 stars.

Campground: 3 Campground loops, 1 on the lake, 2 overlooking from the hills. Great view of sunset each night over the lake from any Campground. The swimming beach has a floating inflatable course, kayaks, and paddleboards run by an outside company. Sites: Gravel/dirt sites. Sites near the water have a small path to it. Not a ton of room in the sites, but enough to not feel tight on space. Bathrooms: Depends on which campground loop you're in. One loop has 4 separated locked rooms (not stalls) with cold water from the sinks. The other loops and beach have clean, modern bathrooms with showers. Showers: 7.8/10 Overall Cleanliness: 8/10 Water pressure/spread: 7/10 Temperature: 7/10 one button to turn the shower on. No temp. control, set temp. was a little too hot Shower head height: 8/10 (depends on which shower) Hooks/shelves: 8/10 a few hooks and a shelf Privacy: 9/10 locked stalls Wifi: No wifi at the park Verizon coverage: 1-2 bars, not great, but not nothing

25-30 minutes drive to south of Saskatoon. Nice and clean, Well kept washrooms and benches with some friends and family made my summer remarkable. Home to one of the rarest geographical formations in Canada, the Blackstrap Provincial Park takes its name after the manmade mountain that rises 45 metres above the surrounding prairies. This park is the perfect place to enjoy a wide range of summer activities including swimming, camping and fishing. With a boat launch located on the east side of the lake, Blackstrap's lake is ideal for water activities such as water-skiing, canoeing and windsurfing. A main beach with inviting sand and ample grass areas makes a perfect place for games and sun tanning. For that perfect getaway with minimal effort and preparation, two Camp-Easy yurts are available for booking. Park entry fee daily $10, weekly $40 and yearly $75.
