It took me a long time to write a review for the Backus-Page House Museum because I didn't know how to say how disappointed I was with the paranormal investigation night we had here. Whispers from Beyond hosted an evening here and my husband was super excited to go. We have done quite a few ghost walks, and paranormal investigations, but my husband was really excited for this one as years ago he had an interesting paranormal experience at the Backus Mill (not this place... We know) and I think he was hoping to learn more about that experience. On our way to the event, my husband realized it was different place, and asked about a connection between the two places at the start of the evening. The lady from the museum was really snappy when she told him they were not connected. Overall this was the least impressive paranormal investigation we have ever attended. Whispers from Beyond was more theatrical than informative. There was lots of activity in the house, but they wouldn't help us understand what was happening... Keeping as much of its original interior demonstrates the quality of older material used with the window panes and floors, the plaster walls and ceiling as well with some signs of its age, they still show the quality of durability for 160 years of age. 👍👍 Backus Page Home & Property is a major gift representing our history. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to restoring and sharing it with visitors and fellow Canadians alike!!* I'm looking forward to being there July 28th and 29th for the re-enactment of the war of 1812 that took place as it went through...
Read moreWe went for a Jacobite reenactment of the Battle of Culloden. It was very well done; the actors effectively conveyed the horrors of war. We took a tour of the house afterwards. We chatted with a few of the people there (my guess is they were all volunteers) and they were very friendly and knowledgeable about both the Backus-Page history and the history of that time in general. It's a bit of a drive from St Thomas,...
