I think we need to build a walking/biking path around the marsh there because it's beautiful but most people just drive to the lighthouse, idle their vehicle, and leave without even getting out. Get out and feel the sea spray on your face! Feel the waves! Look off both shores, it looks different to the left and the right. Come for the sunsets, they're remarkable. The only time it's not so great is when the men who can afford too much ammunition get out and shoot at ducks. That's too bad But it's glorious the rest of the year. We also have a really beautiful-sounding fog horn, so even if you can't see very far in Baccaro, it still SOuNDS wonderful, and the air will kiss your face. One time a man from Halifax got out of his truck and came over to me (I spend a lot of time there) and asked me "What is the name of this wondrous place?" Bring a picnic. Stay awhile. You can see the Cape Sable Island lighthouse to the west and the Salvages lighthouse to the east.
This is a worthwhile 20 km side trip from the Lighthouse Route. Coming from the north-east, navigate to it from Clyde River. From the west, navigate from Barrington. Then, to return, navigate to the other one.
