Excellent trail, scenic walk by the river, trail is muddy in rain, so choose footwear accordingly. I've spotted wood ducks, mallards, Canada geese (of course) and a few more rare ducks. If you venture towards the south of the trail, you may even spot spruce grouse. I've heard their distinct call. Note there is whitetail in this area, I have seen large deer, and there is plenty of coyotes here (my backyard is on the trail, I hear them at night). Other wildlife includes muskrats, beavers, fishers, minks, raccoons, cottontail, bats and a host of other birds. Additionally, you may see snapping turtles and fish in the river (very large fish suntanning). Wild mushrooms are all over the place, I like the hawk...

Home to an outstanding hiking and biking trail that connects East Gwillimbury to Newmarket and Aurora, Rogers Reservoir can be explored in loop from the parking lot on Green Lane east of the 2nd Concession. The more heavily-travelled section is a wide packed gravel multi-use trail that leads to underneath the new 2nd Concession bridge, where the main yet unsigned attraction is the ghost canal and lock system that was intended to connect Lake Simcoe to the Trent canal. The wetland created by a dam is rich with birds and wildflowers attract butterflies and bees. The east half of the loop is party narrow and woodsy, partly a mundane trek beneath power lines. Trails are not blazed. Parking and...

I parked at Green Lane, beside the driving range, opposite the East Gwillumbury Go Station. I took the path north to 2nd Concession and then turned around. It might take an hour. The wooden boardwalk near the end and the stonework on the side of the overpass is very picturesque. There are many scenic lookouts along the path. It is one of the nicer looking trails that I've been too and it is wide enough for a stroller.

There is a trail from 2nd Concession (the end of the path) to Yonge and Mount Albert and that is just as nice as this one, which is high praise.

There is a trail to the south as well. We followed that one to Davis and turned around. It is slightly less inspiring but definitely...

Welcome to the shire. These photos will never do this magical place justice. Follow the nokiida bike trail over the long curving boardwalk through a vibrant field, and you'll find an abandoned dam that people climb on, some go to fish, some bring their dates. Keep riding through the winding forest, and see the stream peeking out through the trees. Finally you head out to rolling hills with quaint houses looking down at you. The water reflects the trees and flowers, while birds and butterflies pass you by. You feel like you're in another country. Perhaps you've even entered a different story from the life you were living. What a sweet escape!

The walk is very nice. There are varieties of things to see. The walk surrounds the reservoir. There are several bridges. On the northest of the walk, it has a woodened hallway consisting the dam to watch over the reservoir, it's quite scenic. Along the walk, there are spots where birdhouses are built, so many birds can be seen. On the reservoir, it attracts ducks to reside there. So it's nice to enjoy the view. It's stroller-friendly, just some parts are bumpy because of the pebbles. Many people walk their dogs there too. The walk can be more, it links to Murrell. All in all, we enjoy the walk.
