At first as we drove into the park we wondered if we were heading into the backwoods.
The access road is gravel, and several kilometers long.
The campground is pretty bare bones, but most of the sites are treed and there is a reasonable amount of privacy.
The washrooms are how to put it nicely.... disgusting and in need of major refurbishment.
Cracked and dirty tiles, loose toilets, toilet stall doors that have brocken lock slides etc....
However the redeeming factor, and what makes this park worth visiting is the beaches.
Amazing, beautiful and very tranquil.
That is if you can make it through the mosquito infested trails.
They should look into improving the park, but then I guess that might attract more people and ruin those beautiful...
Read moreA really great campsite! We were there on a rainy weekend, so we didn't run into any ticks. The location is right by clean, white sandy beaches (5 minute walk from our site (#79). The campsites are equipped with picnic tables and fire pits. The check-in area has drinking water (unfortunately the taps near the campsites have high bacteria levels and are unsafe for drinking), ice, and firewood. There was an outhouse right across from our campsite, which was very clean and convenient. Near the middle of the campsite, there is a comfort station to wash dishes and shower. Read moreThis is one of our favourite campgrounds. Although, we had many concerns about how prepared they were for opening weekend. Things such as having no ice and the state of the washrooms. They were very clean but a coat of paint in the showers and in rusty areas would be a welcome site. Also the slide at the children's playground has never been replaced. I'm sure these things may be due to budget restraints but you pay the same fee as you do mid summer so everything should be in the best shape possible and all...
