A hidden treasure! This was the most visually interesting museum I have visited. The written stories provided glimpses into the lives of those who lived in the area years ago and there is an extensive collection of artifacts. The grounds and buildings are very well kept. I would highly recommend visiting and gaining a greater knowledge and appreciation for the history and stories of this area.

Great visit, the museum was a blast for the kids, with lots to see and do. The kids got to dress up as part of the tour and reenact old time ways. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They also have a small mini golf course. As well as a small campground if your passing through for a night or 2 or longer. If your in the area I recommend checking it out.

We have had a simply wonderful experience here for two nights and a full day. The full service campground is wonderful and quiet. We were able to wander the museum “town site” walking our dog each evening and enjoy the outside displays. During the day we enjoyed visiting the locals in the Tea House and, were able to have a wonderful lunch for a modest donation (and what a lunch which included homemade buns and dessert dainties)! Ask for the guided tour of all the buildings - the displays are most impressive and come with stories of the rich history of the area. You can tell this is a passion for the volunteers that operate the museum, and each person we met was extremely positive and must love being part of the organization. We highly recommend a stop at...

I was born and raised in Frenchman Butte, a very beautiful little Hamlet with the friendliest people! Tho my family moved many years ago, every visit there still feels like going home! A truly wonderful escape from the busy chaos of the big city this picturesque community is always inviting to everyone! Be sure to check out everything from the Tea House to the Museum! Also a great place for all artists to photographers to be inspired ...explorers, ...anyone interested in a fascinating history! Would even be a great place to film a movie or a music video! Infact, singer Tammy Hunter Holtby and her band did a music video at the Train station (museum)...

The second Sunday in August is the Frenchman Butte Museum Festival Day. Many activities such as a parade, museum tours, stage entertainment, home made pie sales, and a roast beef outdoor supper. Bring your kids, it's like an old time community picnic. Hamburgers, hotdogs and pies for dessert for sale during the day. Stop in the tea house, the railroad house, the one room school or Buchta's replicated general store and much more, even a mini golf and playground.. It's like going back in time. A newly paved highway #797 off of #3 will give you a pleasant country drive to this...
