We parked at the Trailhead Parking Lot #1 which is the smaller lot holding 10 cars or thereabouts and is the first one you encounter coming from Calabogie. There is a pushbutton flashing lights to warn oncoming motorists when you cross Calabogie Road. There is a large trail map sign immediately on your left which we only noticed on our return trip. I suggest taking a photo of the sign so you will have a good reference or do a search and take a few screenshots of the Trail Map. There is a mailbox labelled Trail Maps but none were there on April 20, 2022.

The trail is actually a fairly wide bush road but is rocky in spots and had a few wet pools of water after yesterday’s rain and recent snow melt. Running shoes or hiker boots are satisfactory. The signing certainly needs improvement for first time visitors.

There are two lookouts, the first being Eagle’s Next which was a relatively easy 25 minute walk. Last 200’ was steeper getting to Eagle’s Nest Lookout. Certainly a spectacular view. There is a very poor sign where you need to turn right uphill which is just past a large pond/swamp on your left.

There is also Manitou Mountain Lookout further along the trail but we didn’t go there because we didn’t know about it due to not seeing the sign and not having a Trail Map.

Still highly recommended and easily done by most people who enjoy a healthy walk. Recommend going with someone else. No garbage containers so pack out what...

We loved the view. The valley below was so green and beautiful. Interesting to be standing up top and hear the climbers below but you couldn't see them. The trail up, if you start at the upper entrance, from the parking lot, is a rocky road. Pay attention to the sounds of ATV's which share the area. We took the opposite way down which leads to the entrance of the parking lot. Steep in some places but not hard, well marked and much more interesting than the rocky road. Well worth the walk. Next time I would bring a picnic as there were many spots to sit down and relax. You don't have to stay at the main lookout, you can find your own beautiful space to...

Very natural hike with some roughness but not at all hard to hike. Where the proper shoes with good grip (a good pair of runners at least). Make sure you have a phone to take pics at the eagle nest lookout. It’s not a far hike to the look out, almost 3kms...you can go into the forest off the trail road and walk the hike to the lookout that way. (You will see off to the right of the road small inlets taking you up)

There are other trails too if you are adventurous just follow the map at the front entrance. Best to take picture of map. You will come along swamps and small lakes...

Many trails depending on difficulty level. Martineau has many trails. I did little pine path (blue marks) which is short hike (2.74km) loop and takes you to Eagles Nest lookout. parking is $5.23/12hours flat. paid by app only so please have smartphones. parking lot is big enough but expect traffic any time of the year. views are beautiful and breathtaking. trailhead right opposite to parking lot starts with inclines and its hard. use poles. but not as steep as luskville. bring water and please be mindful of your trash. totally worth the visit.
