Awful experience at Chudleigh’s Farm post ABBAMANIA Show, Saturday Sept 13 (6:30–9:00 PM) We had high hopes for our evening at Chudleigh’s Farm, and for the most part, it started off great. The ABBAMANIA tribute band was absolutely fantastic, the performance was lively, engaging, and my little one was over the moon when one of the singers came over to say hi. It was a beautiful moment we were excited to build on with more of the farm’s offerings. After the show, we stopped by the store for some apple pies and made our way to the bonfire, something new and exciting for our family. My child, curious but always cautious, tossed a couple of small wood chips from the ground toward the bonfire from a safe distance (nowhere near the flames). Suddenly, and very unexpectedly, a young man who works there (with a guitar, sitting far across from us at the bonfire) rushed over and very rudely kicked us out. He claimed it was the third time he had "yelled at us" from across the fire to stop, but neither of us, nor a kind woman in a group sitting nearby (who spoke up about it) heard anything prior. It was incredibly unsettling how quickly the situation escalated. Instead of calmly approaching us the first time to explain any bonfire rules or concerns (which we would have gladly respected), he assumed we were ignoring him and treated us with absolutely no courtesy or basic respect. The way he spoke was not only inappropriate, it was aggressive, especially with a child present. The worst part was the effect it had on my little one. The sudden confrontation scared my kid so much that became visibly anxious, started crying, and minutes later even vomited the pizza that had eaten earlier all caused by the emotional distress. What could have been a magical night ended in tears and anxiety, all because one employee decided to approach a family not with care or professionalism, but with unnecessary hostility. It's disappointing that this person never offered an apology, even though it wouldn't undo the terrible experience they caused for everyone, especially my child, and unfortunately, this single experience has left us not wanting to return, something I never thought I’d say about a place we’ve previously loved and wanted to recommend to others. Chudleigh’s is a lovely venue with great events and kind people (as proven by the ABBAMANIA band and other guests), but one bad interaction can do serious damage to a family’s impression. I truly hope management addresses this, as front-line staff are the face of your brand, and how they treat visitors, especially families,...
Read morei used to go annually with friends but after this years experience i will never go back.
we paid $42 online for admission, yes… $42 for 2 people just to enter. and we were rejected at the parking lot by a rude lady because we had arrived with 30 minutes left of our time slot. please note everywhere online says to respect the time slot you book but that you can arrive anytime WITHIN that time slot. we were there well within the time slot we purchased admission for and were still told (very rudely) to immediately leave. we weren’t even allowed to park and try to purchase items from the store to go for thanksgiving. they stated a policy that does not exist anywhere when you purchase tickets, within any confirmation emails or information emails they send, or even online or on their FAQs. it very clearly states you can arrive at any time during your slot so why couldn’t we just pop into the store to purchase items to go? also the snarky attitude was completely unnecessary. after getting pushed out (even though we literally already paid to be there), we had a back and forth via email with their customer care and they eventually gave us a refund but did not initially want to. i hope they update their communications so others don’t have this experience. after a brief glance of their reviews there are many others who seem to have experienced rude staff as well. please listen to your customers and do better.
i can understand struggling with management of capacity but then maybe take responsibility and don’t just lash out at your customers for your lack of communication - people drive distances to visit and pay a premium just to be there…
if you’re okay with high prices, long lines, rude service and strict timelines/nonexistant policies that are enforced with no understanding or patience, then give it a shot. but there are many other friendly farms that will actually appreciate your business and will give you a great experience for less.
we ended up at fallbrook farms which was more affordable, had super kind staff, no lines & i’ve never had apples so...
Read moreReally bad experience at this farm.
I will say I did find the animals to be so cute and friendly and the two young guys and the one older guy working at the farm part were also wonderful. They get 5 starts. But the rest of it was horrible
I arrive there at 11 am on a rainy day and I’m literally the only one there - I get to the gate and they say no outside drinks or food so they made me toss my fresh Tim’s I got to bring with me on the way in - ok fine whatever.
Next they say I need a ticket. I am not complaining about needing a ticket cause I do think there should be a fee to get inside so they can maintain grounds and animals. But I don’t have online access due to some fraud on my account so online transactions I have disabled. I asked to pay cash or with card. They don’t take any form of payment. So I had to call the bank and ok the transaction. Annoying but Again, Ok whatever, we finally got inside.
Went to the animals they were great. I had my 11 Month old with me.
I guess bad on me for assuming but I had expected to be able to get fresh on site made pastries - turns out this place Doesn’t have this and you can just get frozen baked pies in their freezer section like you do at metro. Gross. TIP- Go to another farm that has a nice fresh bakery on site.
I went to order us lunch and they don’t open till 12 - I had brought back up food for my little guy and went and sat down to feed it to him. A young lady came over and told me I can’t have outside food. I said this is for my baby and your kitchen isn’t open (I wasn’t eating. Only he was) She said sorry we just don’t allow any. I was appalled and immediately left.
All of it was just unpleasant. Especially the part about not being allowed to feed my BABY. I left and sat in the trunk of my suv and finished feeding my baby. I looked at reviews after and it seems others had issues similar to me.
Really was a horrible time. It’s a shame because since loved to go back to support the animals sometime as I’m always looking for fun actives to do...
