My parents had a cottage on lake kamaniskeg at the Barry's Bay end of the lake. It was a one and a half hour drive from Ottawa to get there and it was worth the drive.
I spent years of my life starting as a kid in the early 60's being out in nature, swimming, hiking around barefoot, canoeing, boating, fishing and hunting, having bonfires on the beach, camping out on Ski island, going for drives everywhere.
It had such a powerful positive impact on my life. I spent all of my summers at the cottage during school and later in life weekends and holidays. It would literally recharge my batteries
Our cottage burned down after my mother died but I have amazing memories which I treasure so much.
My sister still lives in Barry's Bay and she had the same connection growing up at the cottage.

Read moreThis place serves you a heavenly experience. Especially when you visit them for watching fall colors.. The whole ride is an experience one must have to let the soul feeel fresh and free. The place is located a bit internal side of the town hence night drive is prohibited or should be avoided due to accidents due to dark and deer or moose crossing.
