A small park. Some sites have a decent amount of privacy (usually the non-electric sites) and some sites are right on top of each other (the electric sites on the peninsula). Water available only at spigots spread through the park. Vaults handy but you know, they're vaults. The comfort stations are reasonably clean. Your experience with bugs will depend on when you visit. After labour day, the bugs are almost completely gone, and walking the trails and through the park is very enjoyable. Lookout trail was listed as strenuous. Walking at night, there are no streetlights, so a powerful flashlight is recommended. Electric sites' power stands were pretty close to where you would want to camp. Some of the approach roads to campsites are pretty steep, so backing in a trailer would be a challenge. The only real issue I have with Lake St. Peter is the same issue I have with the entire Ontario Parks system: people booking sites and then not showing up, or cancelling at the last minute. We looked months in advance for electric sites, and nothing was available. I had an alert on my phone, and nothing came up. We show up, take our non-electric site, and not only are there tons of non-electric sites available on Saturday morning, but there are a few electric sites in prime areas, totally empty. The parks reservation system needs to ban people who habitually book and then don't show up or cancel at the last minute and only get charged 10 or 20%. ...

We spent two nights camping at Lake St. Peter Provincial Park, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The park is beautifully maintained, and the natural surroundings made it the perfect spot to disconnect and enjoy the outdoors.

Our campsite was spacious and well-shaded, providing a nice balance of privacy and proximity to the amenities. The lake itself is stunning – calm, clear water that’s perfect for swimming, kayaking, or just relaxing by the shore. We spent hours paddling on the lake, and the peaceful atmosphere made it so enjoyable.

The hiking trails in the park were another highlight. They offered scenic views and were manageable for all skill levels. We especially loved walking through the forest in the early morning – it was so quiet and serene.

The facilities were clean and well-kept, and the staff were friendly and helpful. They made us feel welcome and ensured everything was running smoothly during our stay.

Overall, Lake St. Peter Provincial Park is a gem for camping and enjoying nature. Whether you’re an avid camper or just looking for a peaceful getaway, this park has everything you need for a memorable trip. We’re already looking forward to...

A smaller campground, breaches look well maintained (not used as dogs are verboten). This time of year the trail (4k or 2.5k) had a lot of insects, which was a surprise as mid August, but the mosses and frogs explained that (very moist ground). A very quiet campground (small capacity and a little more out of the way than some), which was nice. Sadly, our site had a lot of smaller garbage left by various previous tenants, it looked like. This may be a one off, we may have been unlucky. But I would prefer to pay more to know that a minimum check and clean was done between visitors, and perhaps a system of deposit per visitor for cleanliness, a dirty camper does not get their deposit back, a spotless one gets all plus a small refund. I am sure the staff work hard, maybe us paying more would allow more staff hours and solve this. Ontario parks are fabulous and a credit to Ontario and Canada, with a clean campsite I would give 4/5.

Great lake, great scene early in the morning when no fast boat no jet ski running around. After 10am it becomes way too noisy. Too many water skis and fast boat travelling across the lake. We booked site 29, a small site with lots of gravel BUT uneven surface..it is still manageable, however it is way too close to the adjacent cottage. I thought we had a water view but it's blocked by trees... We have a small descent to the lake and access to the water. However due to the close proximity between our site and neighbors cottage, it feels like we invaded the neighbors back yard.. there was no fish in the vicinity of the park due to the high boat/jet ski traffic. Two trails to explore yet super short. Two beaches to play I'll rank them not bad. 3/5 If possible, book the site facing north, or facing west, do not book the sites facing South and East.
