Beautiful, quiet location. Clear lake, warm water, not glacier fed. Will second other reviews, small parking lot, busy on weekends and very steep getting down to the wade in(I wouldn't call it a beach.). Wade in has limited space and is fairly hard grounded (so not ideal for sunbathing or setting up a blanket and umbrella) so expect to leave some stuff in the car and traverse back and forth. Don't bring unnecessary things to crowd the wade in. No lifeguard on duty so its swim at your own risk. Limited shallow spots for kids, so better for older children and teens. The lake is deep and dark past that. No motor boats, great place to take your floatie and just relax. This isn't an ideal spot for swimming for limited mobility seniors or those with disablities for its steep inclines unfortunately but the rest stop is nice is general to enjoy if you don't plan on swimming. (Photos don't show the steepness, but it's there and it's slippy)
Only animals in the water are limited trout, crawfish and minnows that I can tell.
Only negative is the bathrooms are disgusting. Basically a bucket and a hole in the ground. Covered in flies. Take a quick drive into town to do your business...
Read moreIt might not look like much on the map, but this place is quite a gem. The scenery is beautiful. Because it’s located at a rest stop, there isn’t a ton of parking, so be sure to get there early. The plus side to this is that there are restrooms available. The beach area has a pretty shallow part which is great for young kids and then you can take kayaks, stand up paddle boards, or flotation devices out into the rest of the lake. There is also a cabin that you can rent on the far side of the lake. We love to swim over to the rocks and son on them. The water is not glacier fed, from what I can tell, so it’s not freezing cold. It’s just a beautiful little spot to go on a sunny day to cool off. Bring a picnic and enjoy! Be sure to not leave valuables in your car. The area isn’t necessarily known for theft, but it’s wise! Also, you can hop into town for some ice cream after or head to the river for another...
Read moreI've been going there for 5yrs. It's not a 5 star place . If that's what you are looking for it's not for you. It's my favorite place for a vacation. The owners are very nice, granted something's do need some attention. Yes when you go there you pack like u are going camping bring your plates & cutlery with you and anything else you need. But if you on the other side of things. Your on a private resort beautiful views, awesome swimming, jump on your favorite floaty and float away. Campfire pits all over the place. The other guests that come are really friendly too. You meet alot of nice people there. Thank you Lake of the Woods Family for making my summer vacations Awesome. Hopefully this will be yr 6 that I still get to go up. Want to do my bachelet party in June and vacation in...
